BREAKING Contemporary Reasort News

It's going to be crazy when you get off the monorail to go to CM. I was looking at staying here but not now.

Any word on when the Food and Fun Center will be relocated? Will there be a temporary location for quick service? We're goin at the end of the month and are disappointed about the rehab (although, I'm sure the results will be nice!) I talked to a CM on Monday and was assured there were no renovation plans for the Grand Concourse, only the North Wing was being worked on! :rotfl:

Well isn't this interesting. Staying at the end of November so I hope it isn't to crazy.

I know they have to rehab sometime though ;)

that stinks. i really liked the shopping at the CR. it was always such a quiet and relaxing area. no longer.

Maybe it is Fantasia that is moving and not BBG. One of them is going to the 1st floor and the arcade and F and F is moving up. Fantasia would make more sense-smaller.

The OP posted that it was Fantasia which was moving & Bay View Gifts was staying put. To me that makes more sense as the bulk of merchandise is sold ay Bay View Gifts, so why close the biggest store in the Contemporary?

To me it makes more sense to move BVG to 1st floor w/CS & leave Fantasia on 4.

Keep kids mdse. w/kids related activities (CM's, F&FC) & adult mdse. (BVG & Concourse sundries & spirits) near "adult" restaurant (CS).

Have to say BVG is my FAVORITE store on property. Hope they don't fix what ain't broken.

Will be very interesting to see.

We have ADR's for Sept as well.

I will be staying here labor day weekend for a few days, Tower Bay View(hoping for MK ;)
Are there any renovations going on in the Towers? What floor for those who have stayed at CR, recommend?
Thanks

While it is probably best for the resort, it does kind of dissappoint me that F&F Center is moving from the 1st Floor.

When I stayed at Ft. Wilderness, it was an easy boat ride over to the F&F Center for a quick breakfast early in the morning, (Ft. Wilderness doesn't really have a quick breakfast option) then a direct walk over to the bus stop or Magic Kingdom. Unless I was going to Epcot, and needed to get on the monorail anyway, there was no need to head upstairs.

I heard this too when I was in disney 3 weeks ago. I thinkit's abad move. i love the atmosphere of the concourse steakhouse, being in the big atrium with the monorail going by. Buried in the basement, I think would yake away some atmosphere. i also dont like the idea of an arcade being ont he concourse level

Hmmmm.... interesting thread. We are thinking about staying here either this trip or next year and want to get the scoop! :thumbsup2

Everyone that is going soon please keep us posted. We love CR and are going in Feb 07 and want to know all the updates. Thanks! :wave2:

Just spoke to Melissa (CM at Contemporary) and she was not even aware of a move for Concourse, but she went to check and came back and told me that while they do indeed have plans for this, it will be sometime in the "future" and they do not currently have a date set for it. She asked when I had ressies for and I told her Aug. 19th and she said "No problem!"

Guess that doesn't help those of you with future plans, but it looks like everything's staying the same (for Concourse) at least through August.

I don't like the idea of putting the game room on the 4th floor, making it more noisy than it already is (and will be, with Chef Mickeys expanding).

There is construction going on in the Concourse. It is on the north end where the shops are located. There are photos posted on another disney info. site. I attempted to post a link earlier but it would not work. Maybe its a banned site for the disboards.

I'd like to see the photos you're mentioning. I keep having resort switching remorse and would like to try and get a std at the CR for next May, so far no luck--no rooms in that category available right now. I'm wondering though if there is going to be serious rehabbing done to the main concourse area if it would be completed prior to next May?

According to a phone call from the CR concierge today, there are no major renovations planned for this year to the Grand Concourse. All of the moving around we are talking about is planned for next year (?). :confused3 :confused3

I called back to ask specifically about the construction that is happening now and will report back if I hear.

I have to say, this makes me a little crazy   No actually, a lot crazy! :dance3:

I saw the photo you were refering to, so that part is true & it's not a rumor.
