Just bumping back to the first page to see if anyone has any new info

There definately is construction going on in the concourse. There are walls up around the pin kiosk and it is coming down. The general concensus seems to be that Fantasia will leave and the arcade will end up there, Bay View Gifts will stay, Concourse Steakhouse will move most likely to where the arcade and cafeteria are now, and the current Concourse Steakhouse will be Chef Mickey's express and probably the new cafeteria. I'd imagine the bar/lounge will end up moving elsewhere as well because I know for sure that I don't want to have a nice drink at the bar with rowdy Chef Mickey's and the cafeteria right next door.

I was wondering whenever they close the Food N Fun Center, would they suggest for guests to go try the Sand Bar right outside by the pool? A few years ago when I was thee, the Food N Fun Center was closed for a day or 2 & they said if we wanted Burgers to go there. Or would they have other plans?

I do plan to have a lot of fun & I keep excited as August 8th get's closer & closer. When I get back I will do my trip report & take many pictures of the Atrium Club & whatever construction is going on.

Just got this response from the Contemporary Concierge. They said no major work or relocation for the Concourse Level is planned for a year. This is their answer about the current construction/walls up.

The walls that are up right now are because they are replacing the tiles and carpets on the 4th floor by the gift shops. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Just spoke to my TA. She spoke to a friend at the CR (I know, starting to sound ridiculous - who spoke to her aunt who lives in the castle etc, etc.). It seems the work that is being done now is to replace the tiles and rugs outside the stores and should be finished soon.
They are still saying all major rehabs to the Concourse area are scheduled for 2007, but who knows!
No word on whether the pin station will be put back.

From what I've read in industry newswires, the whole pin-trading craze is finally on the decline, so we may start seeing some of the pin-trading kiosks gone forever, soon.

FYI Contemporary IPO is not at the Contemporary. They are the same IPO the Grand Floridian and Polynesian have.

Thanks for the reminder, but I was aware of this fact. The CR/GF IPO is located in the GF.

FYI, the CR does not share an IPO dept with the Poly. The CR and GF are together under one IPO/Concierge Department. The Polynesian and WL are together under another IPO department.

Hi Denise! I hope you guys have a ball!! I wanted to upgrade to CR for this year, but as of now there aren't any rooms available for our stay. DH said we can go deluxe next year (Here's hoping for free dining again!!!!!!!!) and are either doing a Garden View at the GF or MK Tower at CR- gee, I wonder which one I want to do!!

Hey!!!

you guys sound like you know alot about the contempory!!! We stayed off site a few weeks ago for our first trip and now that we are hooked, we are planning our next stay for on site. I have my heart set on the contemporary. My hubby stayed their as a child and would love to go again but my sister and her family is balking at the price. But it seems to be one of the more affordable deluxes. Can you help me out and try to help me sell my sister on this resort. My #1 thing would be the convience of the monorail. Thanks for the help!!!!

YAY!!!! Sounds like maybe the place won't be all torn up for our Sept. 19th arrival! I know some people don't like the atmosphere, but I am soooo excited to be staying at the CR. To me it is just so Disney. I like that it is like a 60's retro vision of what the future would have looked like. I think that it should stay that way. It is atmosphere of the beginings of WDW frozen in time! I am so relieved that there isn't going to be major construction going on.

Contemporary DVC coming - North garden Wing closes Oct 1st

The new DVC at the Contemporary Resort is all but a press release away at this point as the CM's at the hotel have been informed of the project. The North Garden Wing will close to the public on October 1st. A new DVC resort will be built in its place, the details of the exact design are still fuzzy and/or up in the air though.

One possibility mentioned to the CMs was a new 15 story C-shaped building with a central waterpark/pool area like the Yacht/Beach Clubs and a walkway on the 4th floor leading to the current concourse. This would explain the markings on the ground outside the current tower suggesting some sort of northward support system expansion.
