BREAKING Contemporary Reasort News

I have an ADR at the Concourse on Halloween before MNSSHP. Would they call people that have ADRs if the restaurant closed? Although it sounds to me like they would build the new Concourse, open it, close the old, then start building whatever goes in the place of the old Concourse, then open that, etc. Sort of like a chain reaction, so that guests would not be inconvenienced.

Well, I am here at the Contemporary today and work has begun on the Grand Canyon Concourse. The pin station is being taken down and there are large work walls up blocking Bay View Gifts and the other gift shops. The arcade is going in where BBG is. More details when I find out:)

Please keep us posted. I'm going to email the CR concierge to see what I can find out.

Thanx for the update :thumbsup2

So, part of this rumor can be moved to the "happening now" side of the ledger.

My guess is the arcade will be relocated first, allowing work to begin in the old Fun Center area.
If the rest of this rumor is true, once the new restaurant is ready, the old Steakhouse can be closed.

Now we can begin the next round of guessing. What replaces the Steakhouse, an expanded Chef Mickey's? Where will the shops be located. Will DVC take over the North Garden Wing, or build new at the tennis courts? the questions mount. :confused3

My DD and DH LOVE the game room at the contemporary!! That is believe it or not one of the reasons we picked this hotel for our Sept trip!! She likes to collect the tickets etc...
Any more info is appreciated!!!

Does this mean there will be less shopping at the CR ?
Are all gift shops blocked off right now?

PatriciaH thanks for the info please keep us updated.

Maybe this will all be done by late September?

I just emailed Contemporary Concierge and asked specifically about the gift shops, Arcade, and Food/Fun Center for the end of Sept. I'll post what they say.

Just subscribing to this thread to see what info. is posted. I have a ressie at the CR for Nov. 28-Dec. 3. I certainly hope the renovations to the Grand Canyon Concourse are completed by then. I have ADR's for the Concourse Steakhouse for Dec. 2 - It will be interesting to see what happnes if the new restaurant is not open by then.

Oh great I just made a reservation for two nights with a MK view. This was going to be our first visit to the CR. I already have to deal with rehabs over at the Polynesian during that stay. I don't think I want to stay at two hotels getting work done :sad2:

We are staying there in September as well. Now, I'm not so sure.....

Ok, here is what they told us. Chef Mickey's is taking over the space where the Concourse Steak House is (expanding.) CS is moving down to where the arcade/Food and Fun Center is. The arcade is moving up to 4 where Bay View Gifts is. Food and Fun is moving up to 4 as well. Fantasia Gifts is staying put. I don't know where BBG is moving TO:) The North Garden is not being re-habbed at this time. Take what you want from that:)

The center of the Grand Canyon Concourse is being worked on now. There are walls up blocking the center from the gift shops but you can still get into the shops. The round pin station is gone. 14 is being worked on now.

The 12th floor lounge looks awesome! The view is sweet! The new rooms are beautiful! You will love the Contemporary! :cheer2:

Thanks for the update. Can't wait to see the 12th floor!

Thanks for the update.
Did the CM's give any dates on when this would be done or how long it would take?

I thought someone posted that the Fantasia was closing & not the Baview Store. :confused3 To me closing Fantasia makes more sense as the better merchandise is in the Baview Store.

I like the Bayview so much better than Fantasia. I'm not going to like walking off and seeing the arcade.

Wow, we just got back from WDW on Sat. and had been at the CR on Wed. and Fri. We ate at the Concourse Steakhouse on Wed. and loved it. We ate at Food N fun on Fri and gift shopped too there and had no idea what rearrangement plans were in store for the place. My 5 yo DD loves to shop on the CR concourse so that it kind of a bummer they are taking away one of the gift shops.

Since the Concourse Steakhouse is moving to where the Food N Fun Center is, are they going to get rid of that door that goes towards the North Garden rooms? It made sense when they had the Food N Fun Center there since it was a counter service location, but since they are going to have a restaurant down there would it not look better get rid of the doors?
