basically it's a lot of breakfast items... There is usually lots of fresh fruit available, as well as yogurt...made to order omelets are generally an option (though eggs are "breakfast" food you can at least customize them somewhat.) A lot of the buffets have some sort of breakfast casserole or breakfast pizza type food that's a little less like breakfast and more brunch-type food.
There's always toast and bagels if you'd rather go plain-Jane breakfast...but that would be a bit expensive for $20 toast, lol.
While I agree it's an expensive breakfast, if you're going for characters, it's cheaper than the other character meals & worth it to me to avoid standing in lines in the heat/sun to see characters. And some of the breakfast buffets are quite good (Boma is outstanding, though it's not a character meal...and they have a number of non-traditional/non-american breakfast items there that might tempt you.)
