Hi, we are a group of 4 adults and will be staying at the WL for 11 nights in Dec. We will need a restaurant to eat breakfast each morning. We are only doing 1 breakfast away from the resort (Chef Mickey's). I have read the menus from Deb's site but wanted to know first hand how the food was at the restaurants. Thanks :goodvibes

I'm assuming by "the restaurants" you mean Whispering Canyon and Roaring Forks. I haven't eaten at WC for breakfast, only dinner, but both times we felt the food quality was only mediocre. However, most posters would disagree with me, I'm sure. That being said, I think it's hard to screw up breakfast foods unless they're served cold. As for RF, I thought the quality of food was better than WC, especially since you can have items made to order and they come out hot. Further, you don't have to wait nearly so long at RF as you do WC, and if you do the refillable mug at WL, then you can have all the coffee, tea, and soft drinks you want while there. For convenience and price, I think RF is a lot better value.

I've had breakfast a few times at Whispering Canyon Cafe and I've always enjoyed it. I agree with the previous poster that it's pretty hard to screw up breakfast. They serve pretty standard fare (eggs, pancakes, etc.); the all-you-can eat skillet was a pretty good deal. I don't think I'd make a special trip to eat there, but I'd eat there often if I was staying at WL. It is a very popular place with kids and tends to be a bit loud and rowdy - not sure if this will make a difference to you or not.

DW and I have found the breakfast at WCC to be good. You have a good selection or the all-you-care-to-eat. The Roaring Fork is fine also. I get the oatmeal about everyday we eat there, so I'm not a good person to comment on the other stuff. We have stayed at the WL in Dec. several times and will be there again this year. We have found that if you get to the RF at 8:00 am or earlier the crowd is small, but the closer you get to 9:00 the crowds can get large.

breakfast is our favorite meal at WCC. if you need something faster than a sitdown every morning, then roaring forks is a pretty good choice. just your basic food court type choices. something else to consider is trail's end buffet at fort wilderness. very good breakfast! :earboy2:

What about doing breakfast in the park you plan on visiting that morning? Personally I would get tired of the same restaurant every morning for breakfast, or how about just grabbing a quick grap and go breakfast in the park (fruit, muffin, etc) then doing a nice big lunch. Sit-down breakfast is expensive for what it is, and many restaurants have more varied and interesting lunch/dinner options.

How easy is it to do a quick grab and go breakfast in the parks? Is any place open before rope drop? Just curious if it would interfere with early morning touring of the parks.

We were there for a week on our last visit. (When they had the 7 nights for the price of 4 deal a couple of years ago).

We ended up eating breakfast two mornings at WCC. We had the all-you-can-eat skillet both times. It was just easier since we were there. Also, we figured with the prices in the food court, we may as well spend the extra for a full breakfast.

I had reservations on the 2 mornings DH played golf at Chef Mickey's and CRT. We got a snack after riding RnRC and ToT on MGM's EMH morning. I never eat breakfast until I get those out of the way on our MGM days.

Not sure what we did the other day.

I need to know the answer of a question for my father. He is a coffee drinker. Can he do a refillable coffee cup the whole stay? I know you can for the soda's, is it good for coffee. We are staying at WL for 11 days. Is there free coffee in the lobby?

The refillable WL mug is good for coffee. When we were at the WL last Dec. coffee wasn't available in the lobby.

Was it the 10.99 deal for your whole stay? Was it good? Do they have milk for the cofee?

I like the all you care to eat skillet for breakfast at WCC...for under $10 it is quite a good deal. That said, I don't think i would want to eat there or RF every single morning. Why don't you take the boat over to Trails End Buffet at FW on morning? Also, maybe when you do MK you could do the buffet at Crystal Palace. or, take the boat to CR and hop the monorail and go to the Poly or GF for breakfast. There are quite a few options.

Enjoy the WL...it is my favorite place in the world!

I am not that "into" coffee..(I like my cup or two in the morning...it just has to be strong) so I am always ok with the coffee at any resort BUT I have heard others mentioning that the coffee at most spots at WDW is horrible.

I know Kona Cafe at the Poly has a good pressed pot of coffee, as does Boma at AKL (my favorite place for breakfast!) Also, we ate at Fresh for breakfast the Dolphin Resort and they serve Starbucks coffee there. Hope that helps a bit, I am sure there are plenty of others that can fill you in a bit more!
