Hi everyone!

I've taken eveyones advice and booked breakfast TWICE at Kona in May. I've never been there before so I'm very excited! I was planning on having Tonga Toast both times as it sounds to die for, but now I keep reading about Macadamia Nut Pancakes in food reviews and these sound delish as well.

I am torn. Should I have tonga toast twice? Should I have each once? Or . . . how big are they both?? Could I manage to stuff them both at one meal?!! Would love some help!!! :confused3

I am going to breakfast on Easter at Kona. I have never been there either and my mom and I both keep reading about Tonga Toast and those pancakes! We decided we will each order one and share, since it looks the the portions are pretty big! Maybe you could try splitting with someone the first time, so you can know what you like better for the 2nd time!

I can eat and the tonga toast was a lot for me. I would get the tonga toast once and then if you like them, get them again if you want or decide to try something else.

I love the Big Kahuna breakfast with a pressed pot of coffee. Yum!

PS. Ask for the waitress Beverly, she is wonderful!

I would be extremely surprised if you could manage both, they are both very, very filling.

Personally I find the tonga toast just too sweet for my taste, strangely though, the macadamia nut pancakes I find are just heavenly.

I have persuaded my DH for us to have an ADR for Kona, just so I can get me some pancakes LOL

DH and I love The Kona cafe. He got the Tonga Toast and I got the Mac nut Pancakes. From what I remember(2006) I got three pancakes and I think I ate about one and a half. My hubby on the other hand devoured his tonga toast but he would have never made it thru both meals. If you are going with someone else you both could order diffrent items and split them in half?!?

I have never had Tonga toast i was hoping DH would order it at our first and only visit so far to Kona Cafe so I could try his but he ordered the Big Kahuna.

I had the most yummy Macadamia pancakes ever and I will be returning in June to order the same again!

I think I managed to eat 2 of the 3 pancakes as they are quite big. I did want to finish off them all but I just couldnt squeeze the rest in!

I notice you are from England where about are you from?

Cold and icy Norwich . . brrrrrrr today!!!!!

Thanks everyone, looks like I shall need to talk my husband into the benefits of trying "healthy" bananas and nuts for breakfast and then sharing them!!!! :rotfl:

ok, I think you will be surprised at how HUGE they both are! i had to cram my stomach to fit in the tonga toast, but if you are hungry you probably could! Have fun!

Ok, now I'm feeling a little bigger than the average bear, :cool1: b/c on our last trip I had no problem polishing off the Tonga toast & then "helping" my DW by eating 1/2 of her macadamia nut pancakes....:rolleyes1 so I'm of no use to you, other than to say they're both good....but I will forwarn you, that even with my sweet-tooth, the tonga toast w/the strawberry sauce on it is Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet....I was "berry" glad they serve that on the side so you can "dole" it out as needed....:lmao:

DH and I go once per trip and get one of each and share. They are both soooo good.

We will be at Kona for our Easter Breakfast too! We'll be there around 10:30am I think.
