Breakfast at AK question

DS is taking the "Wild by Nature" class at AK on Tuesday morning 8/16 and it finally occurred to me that I can't ride Kilamanjaro Safari since I will be 18 weeks pregnant. So, DH is going to take him to the class and I will be on my own with DD, who is 3.5.

I was thinking this would be a good excuse to enjoy a yummy breakfast with DD. I was hoping to take her to Tusker House for the character breakfast, but so far I haven't been able to get an ADR there that morning. We do have an ADR at Boma, though, for the 2 of us. I've heard great things about the food at Boma, but I really think DD would like the characters and she couldn't care less about the food in general! What are the odds of getting a table for 2 at Tusker House as a walk in? Will the wait be horrendous? Should we just do Boma instead?

Are you staying at AKL? Are you and DD planning on going to AK that day at all or are you staying out of the park that day? If you are going to go into AK that day, you could go with your husband and son and check on Tusker House, and then worst case just hop on the bus to AKL. But if you're staying at AKL, it would probably be easier just to stay at Boma, IMO. Keep checking for ADR's though, and ask the resort you're staying at to check availability too. Maybe they can even call over and find out what the walk up wait time is that morning - I don't know if they have this ability, but definitely worth asking.

Boma for breakfast, while great if staying at AKL/AKV, is not worth going out of the way for. So if you are not staying in that area, I would skip it. I highly doubt you can get a walk-up for 2. If you want to do a character breakfast with DD as something special for her, maybe consider going to one of the resort character breakfasts before heading over to AK. Cape May is on the more relaxed side and has Minnie, Goofy and Donald in their beach outfits or maybe 1900 Park Fare with Mary Poppins, Alice, the Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger.

I would keep trying for TH even after you have already formed a plan "B". If you can't get into TH you can still see the characters in their safari outfits at Camp Minnie-Mickey.

Thanks for the suggestions! We are staying offsite so we are driving to AK that morning. I have to drop DS and DH off before 8:30am for their class and then I'm free to do whatever with DD. We do plan on spending most of the day at AK.

I don't think there's any way we could get breakfast in before the drop off, since my kids are still going to be on Mountain Time and it's going to feel REALLY early to them. Cape May and 1900 Park Fare are both available that morning, but at 9:40 and 10:50 respectively so not the most convenient times. I knew it was a risk to be flying by the seat of our pants like this, so I'll keep checking on ADRs for Tusker House while I keep Boma in our back pocket. If we decide not to do a sit down breakfast, then DD and will have no problem finding things to keep us occupied while waiting for DS and DH!

Rainforest Cafe at AK has breakfast. While there isn't characters at RC, there are a lot of animals to look at. It would be entertaining for the little one.
