The holy land, the happy place
WDW. Whatever you call it, it has been calling me. Rather loudly.
Hello, I am a Disney World addict and it has been 173 days since I last set foot on property. And it will be another 109 days until I am again. Sigh.
At first I was thinking that Id explain why I feel this way about WDW- the escape from reality, feeling like a kid again, the great food, great service, tons of fun but then I realized that if youre reading this then you already get it. And it is so nice to know people who get it.
So lets see. What do you need to know about me? Im 30-ahem-something. Not married- which is shocking.
Seriously once you get to know me youll wonder how can someone this great not be taken?
Regular WDW visitor with the family as a kid and tons of great memories. Which Im sure contributes to the obsession today. Took a significant Disney sabbatical for ~15 years from college to 2006. I think I thought Id outgrown Disney, if you can believe that.
But then I was having a hard time, had been jonesing for a Disney visit and had a reason to go (a cousins high school band was performing there) and viola the rest is history. Through the course of planning for the first visit in so long I discovered the various websites and podcasts and basically I havent looked back.
I hate pictures of myself. Seriously hate them. But I recognize as a TR reader that no pictures = not as much fun.

Ahh Epcot. I had no idea at the time but it would become my very favorite place in the World.
December 2008 at Osborne Lights. Im on the left in the blue fleece. The blue fleece I barely took off the entire trip b/c it was SO cold!
This trip is going to be a little different. Yes, I am leaving my home as a solo traveler but over the course of the trip I will be meeting up with at least four of my favorite DISers and I hope several more. Who will I be meeting, you ask? Well before I tell you, we should go back for a minute.
Picture it, December 2008. I have decided not to purchase DVC and am lamenting my imminent departure from WDW. When what to my wondering eyes does appear but a bounceback offer.
Picture I find it helps to provide one when I ask you to picture it.
I loved the Food and Wine festival in October 2008. It was my first experience with it and I had the best time. Now I should tell you that I am hardly a gourmet, have a very unsophisticated palate, and am not a particularly adventurous eater. I do love me some wine, margaritas and grand marnier slushies, however.
As previously confessed, I am a Disney addict so I have read a lot about the F&W festival. And Im aware that many feel like the festival has gone downhill with fewer special events, big names, exotic food etc. Well, I didnt notice.
So back to bounceback. I knew I had to come back for F&W. And knew Id have to stay at Beach Club. You cannot beat access to the International Gateway at F&W time! So I did book for a week. Id originally booked for only 4-5 days and the operator was very helpful and said you know, this is a very popular time and its always easier to delete dates than to add them. And since youre booking room only you have practically up to the last minute to make your decision. Well, color me decided. I booked a whole week.
Then, not sure how this happened but oh so very glad it did, my DIS friends Paula (Iluvcrush) and Jen (JenJolt) decided that they too would visit that week.
Not too terribly long after that, my friend Heather (Circusgirl) who Id had the pleasure of meeting on my December trip emailed to say hey, did you hear theres another special event? Well that is just music to my ears. Heather and I had the privilege to participate in the DIS Unpluggeds private Toy Story Mania party in December 08 and had the best time. This latest event is sponsored by Lou Mongello of the WDW Radio Show (another favorite) and takes place at the Adventurers Club. And was scheduled for 2 days before my bounceback reservation. Yup, you guessed it extended the trip by 2 days and am now up to a 10 day trip!
So currently, my dates are Thursday 9/24 through Saturday 10/3. The Adventurers Club event is the first night. I hope to make Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party at least once and maybe twice. Jen will be celebrating a birthday while were there and I think weve agreed upon California Grill for her birthday dinner. And thats about all I have planned! My ADR window opens on June 26th.
Im looking forward to counting down and planning with all of you!
Thanks for reading!
