OK, this may seem like its off in left field, bear with me:thumbsup2

My sister in law has severe peanut allergies. when she buyes store made bread (for sandwhiches or hamburgers) she has to ask if its been made around peanuts or her other allergies.

In the restaurants at Disney, when getting burgers or sandwhiches, does Disney KNOW about their breads? I mean, can you ask, has the bread/buns, been made in a place where they may have come into contact with peanuts? Do they make their own breads?

While some may think this is stretching it......she has had a MAJOR issue with this before.

Im wondering if anyone has run across this or just knows? Thanks so much in advance!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Nobody on this board will think you're stretching it. We get it, we really do. All of here who deal with allergies or intollerance do the same thing and yes many of us have accused by well meaning yet uninformed family and friends of being fanatical but we know what happens if we don't.

My family avoids other foods that make the regular bread off limits so I can't help you on the bread. For some reason I'm thinking that the regular breads maybe fall under same facility as peanuts but hopefully somebody who only deals with peanut allergies can chime in with more accuracy.

When you go to CS locations, you'll be handed an allergy book to look through to get answers like these. The managers won't know off hand but the book will indicate this level of cross contamination possibilities.

We were unable to give my cousin any bread/pastries due to "processed in a facility" label for peanuts/treenuts last July.

The hamburger buns were safe as was some tapioca bread at Contemporary (we got a turkey sandwich and that was what was offered).

I believe at Ohana the bread was safe but it could have been another TS restaurant we went to.

I find it really disappointing that no cakes/pastries/breads are safe other than the gluten free stuff for people who are "just" peanut/treenut allergic. Anyone find anything else in that category that doesn't carry that label?

I think all baked goods were off limits, but DS was able to have regular sandwich bread and hot dog rolls but no dinner rolls or pastries, etc.

DD could not have any dinner rolls or any pastries/ cookies/ cakes (this is really true no matter what restaurant we eat at, even outside of the world). Just ask and they will let you know what is safe. Disney takes all allergies very seriously.

Two of my kids have severe peanut and tree nut allergies. They've never had a problem with burger and hot dog buns. The chefs at TS and managers at CS have always been able to provide info on the breads. Disney gets their bread from outside vendors that provide ingredient lists, as well as processing info. Some sandwich breads have been problematic, like the whole grain with various seeds. Most dinner rolls are off-limits, but last trip, the kids were able to have the rolls at Coral Reef and Biergarten. Make sure you note the allergies on your ADRs and ask to talk to the chef at each restaurant. Also, mention the allergy when ordering at a CS. The CM should alert the manager who will go over safe options.

She would be able to have the gluten-free bread/buns that they're carrying now. The brand is called "Udi's" and I was recently told that WDW is carrying their white and whole grain regular bread, and Classic Hamburger and Hot Dog buns. These are nut-free, soy free, dairy free, and gluten-free.

And honestly, they taste GREAT.

The 2nd link is the nut disclaimer, so they'll have to make their own decision about eating it.
