Brazilian tour groups??

Well, when I was a teen in those groups I DIDN'T act that way either so generalizing is always wrong as I guess there are many kids who do behave despite the behaviour of the rest of the group.

When I was a teen a surely hated when my friends acted any way similar to this. That's why I said "generally". Don't mean all groups.
But a large, over-stimulated group with a negligent chaperone is pretty much unattended in my point of view.
My point was that the bad behavior has more to do with the context than with nationality. I was just explaining to a previous poster that bad behavior is not accepted in Brazil, but that "being accepted" and "occurring" are two very different things that depend on a lot of factors.

These were from last July (16-23).... as other PP mentioned, I didn't find any groups to be really obnoxious-there were just LARGE groups everywhere and we'd get to a park before rope drop, but there were already hundreds and hundreds of kids/teens w/ matching shirts that beat us there :rotfl: :rotfl:

I remember, the fear as they march on, trampeling as they move. But where is the green?

My school sends 500 Seniors to Disney every May.

Without fail, we get a letter or two each year complimenting their behavior. (Most often it's from a flight crew, since they can pin down who we are.) Inevitably they brace themselves for a rough flight when they realize it's full of teens and are pleasantly surprised to find out how well behaved our kids are.

Not all teenagers are obnoxious. Most of the kids I've met over the past 30 years have been wonderful.

:thumbsup2

As a student in high school, I was a member of the marching band. We went on regular trips to WDW to compete in competitions and every time we got a response along the lines of "Oh, wow, you're not going to terrorize us? You're saying please and thank you? I'm shocked!" :rotfl2: And invitations to return were sent back to us every time.

I think there's always a few bad apples in every bunch, especially with teenagers. BUT I agree with other people that have said that if the chaperones would step up, this type of bad behavior would disappear (which is why, in my experience, there's only been 1 or 2 rude groups of teens at WDW out of the many that are there). It was ALWAYS made clear to us as students that when traveling we represent our school, our town, and our state. (Also, if we did something bad our little behinds would've been put on a plane and sent straight back home.)

Don't hesitate to speak to a chaperone of ANY group that is misbehaving, no matter where they're from. The few BTG chaperones (since that's the particulay topic of discussion here) that I spoke with were extremely nice, happy, conversational, and understanding of my concerns. (So even if they're NOT doing anything wrong, talk to them anyway. They're cool! :thumbsup2)

They do one heck of a wave at Fantasmic! :thumbsup2

Yes they do! I always enjoy it, myself. The behavior has really improved since about 10 years ago. I remember when groups would literally run from attraction to attraction, cutting people in line, yelling and chanting while ON the rides, etc. Right now, give me the Brazilians over the Pop/Warner groups any day!

Just back from an 8 night stay at DW, June 18 - 26th and we had Brazilian tour groups at Epcot one day and MK another day. Never had or saw any problems; talked to a couple of them, very nice polite kids. One day they stopped their hooping an hollering so I gave a big shout and got them started again; it was a lot of fun. Had more problems with other "folks", won't go into details, don't want to "offend" anyone, well actually I do but I won't :)

I TOTALLY disagree with the poster who says all groups of teens would act the same way. Not so. I have been a part of large teen group trips for years when DS and DD were in school and there was NEVER a tolerance of disgusting behaviours. To paint all teens with the same brush is unrealistic and unfair. The Brazilian teens in the ASMo last July were Vile and downright Scary:scared1:. My facts are from personal experience and I have no need to generalize.

I should have been more careful in my wording. I certainly didn't mean that all teenagers are horrible. I meant being Brazilian and a teenager doesn't increase the risk of obnoxious behavior. I've met plenty of wonderful teenagers of all cultures and I've met plenty of obnoxious teens of all cultures as well. Sorry!!!

The tour groups were in abundance at Epcot yesterday. However, they were well-behaved and didn't block things up much.

lol in one of the pics there's a group from Argentina, they're wearing the soccer t-shirt (light blue striped tee)
back when I went in one of those groups our travel agency told us to try to not to wear soccer tees. that could lead us to a problem with kids from other nationalities and possible fights over whose team is better.

soccer t-shirts are one of my pet peeves and they annoy me enormously XD I hate those tees and I hate sports rivalries

I gotta go to bed! :D have a nice evening! :)

Last month we had breakfast in the Cape May Cafe on a Saturday and as we're walking from our villa, we noticed a tour bus pull up and a large group of young girls got off. They were going to the Cape May Cafe for Breakfast too!

They were gals from Columbia, celebrating their I'm not sure if it was the 15 or the 16th birtdhay trip. They were all excited, but they were all well behaved as they ate, greeted the characters and stood in line at the buffet.

It was a good experience, and we had no problems in the parks. Our week at WDW was from the 12 to the 19th.

Bobbi:goodvibes

I think that whatever the group, a mass of matching t-shirts sends waves of terror over every innocent WDW-goer :rotfl:

Agreed!!!! :thumbsup2

I was completely unprepared for it, as I have never visited during the times of year they are in mass.

Back to our usual mid-may trip for us!!! :lmao: :lmao:

We are headed to the world next week. My only concern is ending up behind the person with 100 tickets at the Fastpass machine :scared1:

I still say there should be a limit as to how many fast passes one person can get. maybe 8, or 10.

Horrible Horrible behaviours:headache:We went mid July last summer and will NEVER do it again! I have to say the resort (ASMo) did a good job of controllling them at the resort: at our check in we were told about the groups, who to contact if there was a problem, and to keep an eye on our DD :sad2: The first night we called with loud singing, doors slamming, etc. at 2am and said we would not put up with this again and would be asking for either resolution or reimbursement to move somewhere else. then during the morning (we like to eat breakfast, swim, sun, etc at the pool), those who obviously didn't sleep all night parked themselves all over taking up chairs, tables, etc. to sleep, trash, and be obnoxious. We again called and said come take care of this. The resort responded with security and from then on the groups entered and exited resort grounds through a back parking lot by the Love Bug area and they were not allowed by the pool unless they were swimming. In the parks we knew to go the opposite way whenever we saw a flag (based on incidents years ago when our DD and DS were little), but as we were enjoying the barbershop quartet on main street in MK a group actually SHUT THEM DOWN with shouting, hooting, obscene gestures, etc. :sad2: Our crowd that had gathered stepped up to get them moving on but I have never witnessed such unbelievable behaviors in all my life. We wonder why they even bother to come to WDW, as it's pretty obvious they only want to cause drama and conflict--they don't come to enjoy the experience.

ITA! as stated earlier, we were stuck at sports with them and it was terrible. not just teenage behavior, the adult chaperones were just as bad! rude, rude, self entitiled.

I think the problem may be the attitude that they are from another country, and WE american guests) should do what WE can to make THEIR trip fun, since we are their "hosts".
(this is basically what that "haughty" CM at sports told us..)

Yes they do! I always enjoy it, myself. The behavior has really improved since about 10 years ago. I remember that too,the line cutting, the loud, rude chanting on the bus (kiling my ears) the loud rude chanting on the rides, basically ruining the exerience for any other guests on that ride.. oh yeah! that was just a year ago, July 2010.

I posted under hubby Nebo's name again. that's ok, he was even more disgusted (and basically DISILLUSIONED) with Disney, that they let these groups behave in such a manner.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em! This has been my DH's philosophy for the past 5 summers. The BTG are just a part of our vacations at WDW. We've never had any negative encounters with them and usually find them quite entertaining. Here they are taking up the majority of the MK entrance waiting for the nighttime parade. (They do stake out their spots about 2 hrs beforehand.) DH was wearing the same colored shirt and decided to be "part of the group!"

lol!

it shouldn't if the kids did behave well ...
in our case we found our t-shirts so tacky that we avoided having to wear them.
I still have to say these groups are ENORMOUS! I guess they have 300 kids going to WDW every trip but they should split them in even smaller groups. I see at least 20 kids in each group...way too many. There weren't these many TG back in 1996 :(

try to not to let them ruin your vacations and if you feel like they are ruining your day leave a complaint at Guest Services or at the hotel.

I hope I can avoid TG and Pop Warner if I finally get to go! I feel for all those who had bad experiences with them :)

thanks for the tips and info about Pop W.

As I said earlier, from what I've heard, the players attitude and manners have drastically improved. But as I reflect to my own experience from last year, and the hold over of the cheerleaders. And the more I think about it, I'm not sure which was worse... The gaggles of cheerleaders and their actions and behaviors, or their moms who were more concerned with being their friends rather than their chaperones and behaved the EXACT same way.

I know that the players and cheerleaders stay in the Value resorts until they are filled. And then the overflow is sent to Port Orleans Riverside. But with the refurbs going on at POR, I've heard rumors that the overflow may be sent to Coronado Springs.

We were there at the same time as you guys! I only got a couple pics of the yellow group. We didn't have any problems with the tour groups behavior wise, just huge group wise. I did not like that a tour group leader was sending all of the kids in the single line at RnRC at DS, or that there was not a seperate FP machine for tour groups at Soarin. This poor lady standing behind a tour group rep, at the machine next to me was so frustrated. I let her in front of me. She only wanted 2 FP's, the tour group rep had a giant stack of tickets....about 3in high!

We will not tour in July again, but hoping for the 1st or 2nd week of Aug to tour....tour group free :scared1:

I've only had to deal with the tour groups once in 1997 and vowed never to go that time of year again. It was awful. The group that was there was rude and every ride that they showed up at with us they did the line jumping thing. Starts of with 2 or 3 and before you know it there are 100 more people in line in front of you than when you started. I finally got fed up with it at Pirates of the Caribbean. Myself and a very tired mother of 3 refused to let them all in. Believe me they tried to force themselves in but it just wasn't going to happen. I think that poor mother must have been dealing with it all day herself and was as fed up as I was. I know it wasn't a very polite thing for us to do but their behavior must have driven us mad, lol. The last time I looked at The Unofficial Guide to Disney they had an entire chapter dedicated to the tour groups. That was a few years back though, not sure if they still do.

for every person who thinks these groups are harmless teensm, having fun, there are at least 10 otheres who know better.

disney really needs to do something about controlling the behavior of these groups. just because you are part of a large group does not make you above the rules, or more important than any other guest.. and, yes, we are ALL GUESTS at WDW.

Oh, my! Just got back. Went same time last year, so was ready for the brazilian tour groups.... most of our trip, wasn't a problem... but wow, our last day they were EVERYWHERE!

Ate at Sci Fi... we were desparate for the bathroom. Kept checking for 45 minutes... nope, line was huge, not getting any better. Was storming, and huge group using that bathroom. Ended up leaving two of my kids in the restaurant at the table and running with son in storm to restroom near AI - which, by the way was EMPTY.. we were the only ones there.

Go to get on bus to head to All Stars.... ugh.... line huge.. would have taken a good 4 buses to fill up that line... and yep, BTG!!! Ran across to grab a cab... which ugh, waited almost a half hour to get one... many people wanting cabs... and all the while, kept eye on All Stars bus line and yep, we still made out much quicker with the cab.

Back at Movies.... WOW!! Place was overrun with brazilian teens! I do have to say, they appeared to be pretty behaved. All just walking around, hanging out.... no fighting, running around, PDAs.... did think they were behaved.

The chanting/singing... I actually like it and want to join in! But it's when you go to do something, like a restroom, bus, attraction, food court and find it FILLEd with BTG... ugh!!!!
