Brazilian Tour Groups?

We saw them all over last July, and I expect we'll see them in two weeks when we're there.

Unless you've experienced it, please don't criticize those of us who are less than thrilled with seeing them again. I am not saying their nationality is the issue because I firmly believe large groups of American kids would be the same, but the Brazilian tour groups do stand out, they rarely speak English, they are sometimes rude, and they will run you over and block paths and ride entrances if they happen to be where you are.

Two different CMs commented to us about their behavior, just to give you an idea of what it's like.

We stay at the Polynesian and never see them there, which is great, but they are at all the parks in July.

Last July when we went, it seemed as if a third of the crowd at any given park were the tour groups. It's amazing that there are so many at one time.

We certainly had no problems with them, and didn't notice any problems with them. I witnessed a lot worse from those who speak English natively.

The only thing is that you'd find a large group converge on a ride all at once - Test Track's standby line was wall to wall people wearing the same shirts...and it didn't help that it broke down for over an hour.

They never use fastpasses it seems, so use those to your advantage when possible.

OMG, glad I'm not the only one. We stayed at POP and AKL last July and my DH REFUSES to stay at a value because of them again. It's nothing against the country, it wouldn't matter if they were from any country but that many people from one country in those large groups unsupervised and you'll definitely have trouble. We had an absolute horrible experience and like everyone said, if you haven't experienced it you wouldn't understand. I imagine it would be like staying at AS during Pop warner week. I will never again go in July and never again stay at a value because of that experience. I'm pretty laid back but they were he!!.

At the parks you couldn't move, walk or turn around w/out them being there. They would push and shove until you got out of their way. We were waiting in line at AKL for EE and there was a group in front of us and a group behind us. They obvioulsy wanted us out of there and made it quite known. My DS had bruises after we left that ride. We tried to tell them to not hit our DS but they would claim ignorance and not speak english. Then they would turn around and speak english to their friends.

At every CS restraunt we encountered they literally cirlcled the place and trampeled everyone trying to get a seat if someone got up from a table. We were at the flame tree in AKL and there was a little girl and boy sitting at the table while their parents got the food. They were picked up and moved by the groups. It was horrible.

I won't even get into the situations at POP. Until you witness it you can't even begin to understand. Like I said before, I'm sure it would be the same with any group of teenagers that big but I have only encountered them and never again.

oh yes they do!!! believe me I have seen on more then a few occassions and been stuck at the FP machines while they run 100 passes through for tickets :rotfl:

Most of the groups I have seen have been pretty well behaved, but there have been a few that :headache: :sad2:

They've been pretty darn nice to me during Carnaval. I think at least we owe them a good time.

Encountered them last year and we said never again. Our last day at Disney this year they started arriving I believe and they were a bit rude. I will say this, not all tour groups are bad. We had some from Puerto Rico on Splash Mountain with us and they were very well behaved.

As others have said, its really all large groups in general that tend to be annoying or rude to others. i find it just as annoying when large families or groups hold hands and block an entire pathway as when the tour groups come into town. unfortunetly, the brazilian tourgroups and cheerleaders just seem to be easy targets because many other guests have seen them as they all usually wear the same color tshirts. theyre not going to stop coming, so we might as well just suck it up and ignore it.

I cannot believe I'm admitting this...We were there in January this year and there were two large Brazilian groups. Shouting and chanting and basically acting like the rest of us should be amused by their boorishness. Then for whatever reason, they all RAN at the exits of Epcot. Must have been over 150 kids. Like a signal was given by their flag holder and AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! People walking with families to the exit were knocked and run over. It was very intense and the closest thing I've seen to a riot. Like another poster said, if you haven't experienced this at WDW then you are lucky.

We went in July once and it was pretty hectic..I think its the fact that they are young people in a huge group. I remember trying to get on POTC and their little flag was waving and the kids were singing and chanting...It wasnt bad,but they decided to move a poor woman in her wheelchair to the side so they could run to the boats, and she was sitting the corner near the wall for like 5 mins before we said anything because we werent sure what was going on.

We had another incident where we were waiting to see Mickey, and the little girl in front of us was stepped on and the group kept cutting in line.:sad2:

THEN we had the cheerleaders at the end of our trip.:sad2: OM gosh I have never been so tired in my life of hearing chants, and girls being hoisted up in line...All the makeup and perfume..:scared: I hate Bath and Body Works because of this trip..I cannot stand the fruit smelling scents any longer. :)

Ive rarely had the experience to witness a well-behaved brazillian tour group. They always have loud chants at the parks, and while staying at CBR there were many tour groups and they would push people through at the food court, cut in line etc. We went in August last year and didnt have a problem, it seems like most of the groups go in late june through July. I have nothing against anyone from those countries, but it does really affect people's vacations.

I can't believe this question!!
They are just having a good time !! that's what WDW is all about ... you would have the same issue with Cheerleaders, SportsTeams, Grads ... a bunch of school children.
I'm not brazilian but I would be quite offended if i read this post ... I wonder what you say about us Canadians??:rolleyes1

Be lucky you've never had to deal with a large group of unruly terrors (brazilian or otherwise). ;)

Truely we all need thicker skin as we all have issues that dont please others and it is alright if others dont like those issues. In EU I know some people complain about us loud Americans. That is just fine as sometimes it is true as I was/am one.

Take heart orginal poster that there was nothing wrong with your post. It was a simple question about avoiding tour gruops that happen to go in the summer and you further identified them coming from a particular company.

Love not PC

Oh, I'm well aware there was nothing wrong (or offensive) about my OP. :goodvibes

My skin is tad bit thicker than that...and I know Americans tend to get a bad reputation when they are abroad. ;)

We went last July and there where huge groups of them. My sister just laughed and thought they where so funny because they where standing in line for food all at once at Pecos bills and they where all laughing at our money. A large group did try and cut in front of us once but me being me just cut right back in front of them and then had my sister stand next to me LOL. I treat everyone the same In Disney if your rude to me get ready to get it right back. If your nice to me and mine I don't care if you are a huge amount of teenagers I will be nice to you.I wish everyone the best summer ever and that goes for all nationalities

I truly hesitated to post what I did before. I'm not the type to be not-PC, (laughter), but I've never seen a group go completely wild like that at Disney. There were just too many kids following too few flags and I assume they were the only adults. We should be able to say clearly what we witnessed without feeling bad about it. I wish Disney would require that the groups be smaller and at least less than 100 following one flag. My opinion.

I am half brazilian, my aunt is brazilian, and a CM. She has always told me to steer clear of the brazilian groups. Yes, they are annoying. I don't know whats wrong with them that they think it is OK to chant, bang on tables, take up whole walkways.I don't think people are saying people from Brazil are horrible, they are saying the people from the tour groups who act like they own the place are horrible. It just so happens they are from Brazil. I take no offense.;) I happen to agree!

Unfortunately the only time we can go this year is the end of July. 2 years ago during the 4th of July Illuminations at EPCOT they had the nerve to sing the Brazilian national anthem in unison while our national anthem was playing.:sad2:

I've got a story to add to this thread!

My family and I and a friend of mine went down for vacation in July in the early to mid 90's. We were standing in line to get on "Livin' With the Land" (or whatever incarnation of the ride it was at the time). So anyway, we were standing in line and this VERY large group of Brazilians got in line a few parties behind us. Now this was around the time of the World Cup, and apparently Brazil was playing to win. So anyway, back to the story....everything was hunky dory, and all of a sudden a couple of the people in the tour group started to chant "Brazil, Brazil, Brazil." That wasn't too much of an issue, it wasn't disruptive, then all of a sudden they started to wave their soccer flags and stuff in the air and the ENTIRE group started this incessant chant! It was deafening! They then started to push on the parties in front of them (have no idea why), which meant that my party was getting pushed near the verge of getting trampled by these inconsiderate people. I completely understand having pride for your country and your winning sports teams, but there are other ways to do so, like maybe wear a shirt or a hat, maybe a jacket...not starting a riot in a country where you are a guest. RUDE! :sad2:

Until next time,
John

And people complain about Americans being rude.:sad2:
