Brawl at Test Track-Epcot

I'm kind of surprised more of the other guests haven't come forward to say something. Seems like anytime something happens and a video goes viral, anyone that was anywhere near wants the whole world to know it. "I was there too! Look at me!"

I too would like to know what started it, though I also feel it was cutting/perceived cutting. Poor cm, and other guests.

I just saw what's coming up on our local news at 4:00pm and yes this was a "top story" they are following.
Crazy, we are 3 hours south of Orlando.

Unless I saw a child getting or about to get injured I would stay out of the fight completely. People that break up fights are the ones that usually get hurt. The CM should have called additional help and waited. I'm sure WDW trains them to stay out of it due to the liability if they injure someone, even by mistake.

Wrongful termination has specific legal meaning. It doesn't mean you disagree with the reason behind the termination.

If Disney clearly instructs CMs not to try and restrain a guest, then the CM has violated a company policy. Many retail stores have the same policy with shoplifters.

Plus Florida is a Right to Work state. The CM pretty much has no leg to stand on.

If he wasnt white (dont read into that, it is the flat out truth), he could get the EEOC involved, but otherwise, yeah.

You're talking about the CM right? I think the person you replied to was talking about the older dude in a tee and shorts who just seemed to be standing around observing. He didn't really do anything but may have stepped in if things really escalated past the point of no return.

Don't mean to hijack the thread on a legal matter but what possible case could come from the CM touching the girl? For restraining her?

The issue will be how he (and this will be the term if it gets this far) body slammed the teenager against the railing.

Right to work means you can't be forced to join a union. You are thinking of at will state. All states except Montana (in certain aspects) follow that law. It means you can be fired or quit without notice (absent a violation of another law such as a discrimination law)

I am in HR so I try to clear that up when people are confused. I do agree with your point. Wrongful termination law is also very misunderstood. If one of my employees got between 2 customers who were fighting, we would definitely fire them.

It could be that the guests left without being "made" to leave the parks. You know how a spokesperson can make things sound a bit different than reality. Pretty sure they just want this all to go away with as little talking and information disclosure as possible.

That's what I've been thinking. Something along the lines of after they were escorted off the ride, they wanted to leave the park. Even if they did want to leave on their own, I'm sure security walked them to the gate... just to be sure.

Oh, I could totally see this. "You are welcome to stay in the parks this evening, but in order to do that, we need to document these events with the Orange County Sheriff's Department. They may need to have you meet with the Department of Children and Families as well. As a former bouncer, there are only 2 things that escalated that fast. 1) Over a girl/boy or 2) Between branches of the military (btw... Coast Guard was always undefeated during my tenure and they never started anything, nor sought out trouble). And in both cases alcohol was usually the root cause.


My Coastie husband came home with some tales for sure. You are absolutely right in that they didn't start it ( most cases anyway). The other branches sure did like to pick on them Of course, my husband would NEVER back down!!!

Not exactly sure of what you are saying, but having alcohol in the parks is something I have never agreed with, and I am not against alcohol consumption in general. After being at Food & Wine once, that opinion is set in concrete in my mind.

I completely agree, and having been yelled at by drunks at Epcot for simply being in their way more than once, I won't even go there. It's not a family friendly park, it's pleasure island 2.0.

Is anyone really surprised? You have a public place, and even if the cost of attendance is pretty high it doesn't keep trashy people out. Near where I live we've gotten "upscale" shopping districts built. Even though they try to maintain a certain atmosphere, they can't keep people out because the "look like they might cause trouble". Heck - the place I'm thinking of has a movie theater with armed security. I hadn't heard of any particular incident at that theater, but there was a drive-by shooting at another theater in the area, and for a while the police dedicated one patrol car to wait there at all times when it was open for business.
