Does anyone have experience @ Braves Spring Training? I was most curious about autograph opportunities. My son is a huge John Smoltz fan. We will be down there the week of March 10th...

Get your tickets in advance.

Not sure about autograph oppty but it's wonderful seeing a game at WDW! I saw them playing the Dodgers a few years back and Tommy Lasorda was in the stands -- very graciously signing autographs for kids during the game.

Have a great time!

WHen do they start at WDW? Where do they play? I know you have to get tickets from World of Sprots, but where do they play?

We went in 2004 and I got Smoltz, Chipper, Andruw, and Franceour (who was still in the minors at that time), Javy Lopez, and Furcal in one day. All of the players seemed to be signing (both the Braves and the Tigers) for a limited time and all of the ones that I met were very friendly. Just get to the ballpark early. Go BRAVES!!!! Take back the East in '08:banana:

I second the advice on getting your tickets in advance!! We waited until about a month before to buy tickets for last years Spring Training. We ended up in the lawn. They are pretty good seats, but it was a HOT day and it just didn't work well for us (or our 3 kids!).

Here's a link to the Braves' Spring Training schedule: http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=atl

If you go to a game, go early. Spring Training is very relaxed and the players often do most of their signing prior to the game. Your son will have to compete with professional autograph collectors who employ hoards of young kids to collect for them. They play pretty rough, and are not above pushing your kid out of the way to get an autograph, so I'd stay with your son and shove back.

Most of the players are very good about signing, and most of the Braves players you'd want are really good guys anyway. As a Marlins fan, I hate to say good things about the Bravos, but most of their guys are classy guys.

Not sure about the Braves camp at WDW, but Twins Spring Training down in
Fort Myers is a GREAT place to have easy access to players for autographs, photos, and conversation.

Maybe you can get tickets at WWS when you're in Orlando but the Braves sell them on line through Ticketmaster. I didn't keep up with exact dates but generally they go on sale roughly the first week of January.

Games are played from Feb 27-March 29. There's a terrific stadium at Wide World of Sports where the games are played.

Now I've got a question....

I heard that pitchers & catcher report on Feb 14. Is there anything to see? Can you watch a practice?

Spring Training was one of the driving forces taking us to Disney in March (we will be there for the 2-game Braves/Cardinals set) -- we're really looking-forward to it!

Someone mentioned tickets - In my research, I learned that tickets for all games @ Disney go on sale in January. While I was able to get the tickets/seats we wanted on the first day of ticket sales, future checks now show only lawn seating is available for these games.

As for tickets themselves, Ticketmaster handles ticketing for all Spring Training games, so anyone interested will need to go to either the Braves' website or Ticketmaster (it should also be noted that Ticketmaster online does not accept Ticketmaster gift cards for Braves Spring Training games).

For anyone needing to know, the new name of the ballpark venue is "Champion Stadium".

Now, the only thing that remains is getting to the ballpark. I heard that the only buses to WWOS depart from DHS. Can someone please confirm? :)

We bought tickets off ebay in 2006, good seats Braves vs Yankees, but that's ebay, just because I had good luck, does not mean that anyone else will. Dena

Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney/MGM Studios)

well a big DUH to me! I should have been able to figure that one out. I guess I am still getting used to the name change.

Can we catch a bus from DTD to WWof Sports?

Has anyone ever had the lawn seats? We have them for a game at the end of March when we are there. Can you bring in blankets or folding chairs to set on?

We chose the lawn partially because they are cheaper but also because we thought our 6 year old niece may get board and we could walk her more easily. Our 9 year old nephew is a huge Braves fan and is so excited. I just hope he can get some autographs. A bit odd for a kid from Northern Indiana to be an Atlanta fan but he has always watched their games on TBS. Really wish my sister got WGN so he would have been a Cubs fan (ha!).
