Sorry you weren't thrilled with your CSR stay. We stay off-site for most trips and for the first time on a family trip, we're staying at CSR starting next weekend with me, DH, DS13 & DS10. The buy 4, get 3 got us to try a Disney resort with the kids (DH & I have stayed at a few Values and Mods on our own), but we usually stay offsite in a townhome or condo so are used to lots of space on our family trips. We have to have queen beds and won't pay Deluxe prices, so CSR was our only Disney resort option!

We will have a car as DH & I even drive ourselves almost all the time when staying at a Disney resort. We've also requested Casitas 5 so would be thrilled with getting your room assignment, I'd guess! We don't plan to use Disney buses at all and don't plan to eat a CSR restaurants so we want to be close to parking and not too far from the main pool. How was the walk to the main pool? Was the pool crowded and was the water warm like bathwater or was it somewhat refreshing?

The walk to the Dig Site was only about 3-4 minutes, not bad at all. It was not too crowded, we went in the early evening a couple of times and once got a quick bite at the snack bar there. The water was warm but at least you got off your feet a little bit. We did not try the hot tub as we were just too hot from the day. My family liked the water slide, more than you get at a normal pool. There was not a "monitor" at the slide but there was a mirror and you had to watch the person in front of you go by before you were supposed to start down the slide. We were there probably an hour and everyone at the slide followed the rules and was polite so there were no near collisions or anything, which was great. (There are lifeguards around the pool at the bottom of the slide) We have stayed off-site in a vacation home as well as other hotels and are used to a car as well. It is tough to get used to someone else's schedule! I think for the room and pool only, you will enjoy it. Hope you have a great trip! Thanks to everyone for your kind words. Even if things don't go 100% our way at Disney, we always have a great time.

As I said, we did like the room itself and the pool. It was just too spread out if you want to grab a quick breakfast and get to the parks. I think we got out quicker in the mornings when we stayed at any of the All Stars. I thought the food courts there had better options as well. But of course the rooms at AS were smaller which was the sacrifice. I guess I just thought I would have to sacrifice less at a moderate? And I thought the service would have been much better. We have also stayed at Old Key West, which also had the internal bus system, but it did not seem as overwhelmed as the CSR's did. We had an awesome time at all the parks though! The only downfall was a horrific thunderstorm while we were waiting for Fantasmic!, which caused it to be canceled (after we had gotten the dinner package, of course!). If you like a more relaxing, resort-oriented vacation, you might like CSR, but we are more into the parks.

You might really like POFQ. Everything is really compact and quaint. One of the things I'm curious about CSR is the expanse and how I'll feel about that since I am a fan of POFQ. Here's to trying something new!

I stayed at CSR fro 6/19-6/26. Checked in at around 11 a.m.. We did online check in 10 days prior. A friendly CM told us what line to go to. I had faxed a request about 2 days prior and it was the first time I ever did that. I was surprised it worked we were put in Cabanas 8a room 8103 a corner room. Close to bus stop 2 and to the dig site. The walk to El Centro was a little long after walking all day in the parks we were tired to go fill mugs up. I wish they would keeps sisetas open longer so you could fill your mug up there later at night. At 11:15 we received a text our room was ready.

We had a problem with one of bags and Jet Blue and bell services were great about it. We had no problem with the resort. We had no problem in the Pepper Market all cm`s there were friendly with us. Never had a problem with housekeeping or buses. The brazilian groups arrived last week.

any questions

Thanks for the report. Glad it worked out for you and you seemed to enjoy your stay at CSR. We've had a corner room a couple of times and they are great!

We were next door in room 8104 in April. Loved the location. Glad you had a great trip!

Where is Cafe Rix? I last stayed at CSR in 1998 by myself. I am going to try to switch my res from POR to CSR for my trip next week, I know it may not be possible now. I am concerned about the heat and as I remember, the CSR quiet pools really were -POR pools can be crowded.

OK that is a REAL alligator there? :scared1: He just hangs out?

what does online check in do for you? Is it really faster?

Thank you!

Yes. The alligators are not of The Jungle Cruise variety. They are real! They are also small amd I've never seen them out of the water. A cm told us they remove them as they approach 4 feet long. Watch out for the lizards, too. They are all over and generally run the other way. Once, though, I was walking with dh and the dcs were a few steps behind me when-pop! I thought I stepped on a stick but one suicidal anole ran right under my foot! The dcs do lovely impressions of what it looked like after the fact-not pretty!

What's the attraction of a corner room at a mod resort? Windows on 2 sides instead of 1, right? I wouldn't want that because we never have our window open when the corridors are outside because everyone who walks by looks in the room. LOL! I know I do it when I walk by a room and I wonder why the people would leave their curtains open. We always close the curtains to block as much light as possible and leave them that way! Is the corner room larger or a different layout?

p.s. I also don't understand why someone would pay more for a "view" room at a mod with outside corridors either, but obviously someone must care because it's offered and people book it! I may be the odd one that prefers to be close to the parking lot for quick access to my vehicle (because we almost always drive ourselves instead of using Disney transportation.)

Cafe Rix is next to the gift shop. It is the new "grab and go" and you can get all kinds of goodies here, including sandwiches, etc.

I do leave my drapes open as long as I'm dressed and not putting on a "show." I like being able to look out the window. We've only paid once for a "view" once; five of the other six times we have been upgraded to a view. I like standing outside by the railing to "people watch" and just look at the beauty of the resort.

Thanks for the info, DD(10) and I are staying at CSR for the fist time at the end of August

How detailed was the room request you faxed? DD wants to stay in Cabanas 9B or 8A, but I don't want to put too much in the room request and seem picky :cutie:

A corner room is exactly the same as every other moderate room, but like Kathy, we like to leave the drapes open as well - the view can be so pretty and we enjoy watching guests go by. I have MS and the extra light helps too.

Also like to stand by the railing and take in the beauty of the resort and people watch; All of this is part of the enjoyment of staying at a Disney Resort for us. We love the feel of being immersed in the enchantment of it all. :cloud9:

Here is what I just faxed in yesterday!

Hello Staff of Coronado Springs Resort,

My family and I will be arriving to Coronado Springs Resort on Sunday July 5th, 2009. Our reservation numbers are AAAAAAAA and BBBBBBB, and we have requested that these rooms be connected with a pass-through between the rooms. Also we would appreciate our rooms to be located either in cabana 8a or 8b or Rancho 7b. We understand that it is just a request, but if at all possible we would appreciate any assistance with our request. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,
The Polve and Zulas Family

Thank You! :thumbsup2 this is very similar to what I have typed up (even tho I won't be sending the fax for another 44 days :rotfl:)

I've just tried to make a reservation at CSR for the dates we'll be staying, and it returned no availability. Does that mean it'll have an intolerable occupancy?

This will be our first stay at CSR.

We have stayed at the CSR seven times and five of those seven times the resort was at or close to capacity. The resort is very large and spread out and we NEVER had an issue with crowds at all.

Looks like you will be there the same time we are. :goodvibes I did this too and got worried, but then remembered that they will have parts of buildings closed for renovations.

Actually the fax request that I sent in , I copied off allears. I just added my own information. I loved my room. We had a great time. I was concerned with all the negative posts about CSR and we had no complaints at all. The first night we were at bell services and we got on a MK bus at the bus stop right there. The only problem was when we were coming home we had no idea what stop to get off to go to our room. We got off at 3 and were lost trying to find our room. :rotfl::rotfl:

We are downsizing our upcoming anniversary trip therefore I just modified from 40% pin @ Poly/SV to FD @ CSR/WV. I have never stayed at CSR however the resort looks very nice and the switch is saving us $1700 :) Anyways, looking forward to CSR & getting you know you all!

Welcome to the CSR thread and our little family here. If you have any questions, ask away. There are many who will be more than willing to help. DH and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the CSR this past September (our 7th stay) and had a magical time.
