Would you still have a chance of being upgraded if there were three of you (2 adults, 1 child) booked into a cat 11/12?

We are a family of 3 (2 adults & 1 Princess) recently upgraded from Gte 12 to a Cat 9. That is inside to oceanview.

In 2004 we were booked (family of 5) in a cat 4, two weeks before were upgraded to a cat 3! It was awesome!!

Did you request the upgrade? We are booked on a Cat 4 and would luv to upgrade to 3 - what did you do to be considered?

3 days before our cruise, our side by side 11 were upgraded to side by side 8's. Loved them! Won't book without at least one window again!

I just booked my first cruise on the Wonder. I booked a category 12 and looking forward to my upgrade, but I would like to know everyone experiences booking a category 12.

We are going on 9/24 and just got upgraded to an 8 or 9. We booked a cat 12. So there is a chance.....Good luck

We booked a Cat.12 for 3 people for the Sept.14th cruise and got upgraded to a Cat. 9!! It was exactly 30 days when we learned of our upgrade.

We're on the 10/25 Magic so it takes in Halloween & looks to be very busy..How would upgrades work then?
We booked & paid in full months ago, a cat 11(Got a room #) and a cat 12(GTY)
Happy to just be on board but an upgrade would be great!!

Catagory 12 to a 6 on the Sept 22 sailing of the Magic. We will have the largest verahnda on the Magic. We were in 7636 on our 2nd cruise and that verhanda will look sooo small compared to this one--and it was large.
This will be our 16th cruise 14 of which are on the Magic.

Getting ready to go on my seventh Disney Cruise and I have Never and I repeat Never been upgraded. I have been in Cat's 12, 11, 10 and once a 6.

Our first cruise we booked cat.12 and were upgraded to cat. 9. On our last cruise we booked cat. 9 and were upgraded to cat. 6. It was nice to see what a balcony room was like but probably would not pay for it.

Last time we had a Cat 10 booked on points -- no upgrade. The split bathroom was nice but not that big a deal for us.

This time we booked a sideways Cat 11 for at least the feeling of extra space. I think I'd actually be annoyed to get upgraded to a "regular" stateroom . . . unless, of course, it had a verandah

It's Monday (although a holiday)! Any new upgrades or GTY cabin assignment news. It seems there is a lot of activity in that area at the beginning of each week. I would think they would be assigning the first part of October cruises and beyond. Have all you September cruisers received your room assignments?

What are the chances of getting an upgrade on a ship that is full. We are taking our first cruise in March 2009 and I expect it will be busy with march break. There are 4 of us booked in cat 11. I would love an upgrade!

Sailing 10/9, and still don't have a cabin assignment from our Cat 12 gty.
We did get main dining though (we were waitlisted).
I'll have to check back next week.

This thread is great to see what people HAVE gotten and MAY get in the future....I just don't want to see people reading this thread and think that everyone gets upgraded....they don't. When you have such a concentration of people posting about their upgrades it can be misleading and set people up for disappointment.

Anything can happen on any cruise in regards to upgrades and there really is no rhyme or reason or formula other than DCL's inventory requirements on any given cruise.

Book what you will be happy with and of course you can always hope for an upgrade but please don't be disappointed if you don't get an upgrade. In the overall scheme of things very few on each cruise get upgraded.

We have cruised DCL 17 times and were only upgraded 2 times. Find out at the port while checking in. But you can find out from your TA, from the cruiseline website or at the port. Remember...if you ASK for an upgrade you will expected to pay for it if it is available.....if DCL just assignes one than it is complimentary. I would say 90% of people would LOVE an upgrade but if everyone booked the lowest category thinking they are getting an upgrade there will be many unhappy people!!

Cruising October 2nd was upgraded from a 12 to 10 for 2 adults and a child! Dad and sister were also upgraded from a 12 to 10.

I agree with mmouse. Don't expect a spectacular upgrade. If you get it then that's great, but even having 4 booked in a room guarantees you nothing higher than a category 11 which as far as I know, isn't any different than a category 12 other than location (that is unless of course you get a sideways 11 like I did last time!).

I booked a Category 12 GTY last time and was upgraded to a Category 11 sideways room. I saw others upgraded to portholes or verandahs and was jealous, but wound up LOVING my sideways room! So much so, that I booked the same room again for my cruise next week.
