Boys in girls bathroom

:worship::worship::worship:

It seems like EVERYTHING these days is a HUGE deal and has to have a MAJOR punishment. It's just crazy. If you make a huge deal over little things like this you take away the severity of the REALLY big things. If you get suspended for looking at mirrors in the girls bathroom and for bringing a gun to school, all of the sudden the gun isn't any worse then peeking in a bathroom...what kind of message is that :scared1:.

It is so true. We had friends who had a little guy in Pre K. The kids were all laying on the floor for some reason and one little girl got up and our friend's kid said "I like your panties". Okay the little girl was standing right above his head and he's four and was just complimenting her on some cool undies.

Next thing you know, parents are being called, he's being told what he did was wrong and you would have thought the kid was a sexual predator scouting for his next victim.

It was insane but school policy dictated "all matters of sexual harrassment be dealt with".

They were put in in house suspension I thought

To me it's eh, no big deal. However, I've been in some schools were there are no doors on the stalls in the girls bathroom and that could have been a huge problem!

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. They could have gotten an eye full (well, not "full" per se ;)) in the boy's room or maybe not, but it had the possibility of being a much more revealing situation than the girl's room.

I'm sure the girls involved would at least be labeled boy-crazy in additon to the school's punishment. But for boys, they're just "being boys!".

Boys pull pranks and take dares that most girls wouldn't consider. It is a fact of life, and always has been. People are not making excuses for the mistakes made when they point that out. They are simply putting it into perspective. Girls have a whole different set of issues that have to be managed.

Neither sex deserves to be singled out when something like this happens. This was almost certainly a dare. It isn't the first, and it won't be the last - and chances are pretty good that this kid will turn out to be a great human being despite some of the mistakes that he makes along the way.

How would that have created a "huge problem"? :confused3

Well I'm sure glad the Girl Scout leaders of St Micheal's Girl Scout troop in the 60's thought differently!

They just told us to get back to our meeting and to quit being silly! when we checked out the boys room during a meeting.

The Office even had an episode where when the ladies of the office all went out the MEN checked out the ladies room!!! It isn't anything new and isn't worth getting worked up over.

Because if a girl is sitting there going to the bathroom and a boy walks in that would be very embarrassing.

I have never understood why some schools don't have doors on the stalls. To me that is just wrong. I assume its because they don't want kids to be able to do drugs or whatever behind a stall door but honestly if that means all the other kids have to do their business in front of others that is not right.

Our old middle school didn't have doors on the bathrooms until parents just united and said enough.

Well, if there are no doors on the stalls and the boys went into the girls bathroom while someone was using it, it could be a big issue. Would you want a boy walking in while your daughter was sitting on the toilet?

That is crazy! I had no idea that there were schools that didn't put doors on their stalls.

Agreed - but that would be no more embarrassing than 100 other things that happen to kids that age. I don't see it as anything approaching a "huge" problem. Of course, we can make it into one if we want to.

Why---at most, unless the girl is spread eagle on the toilet, the boy will see her pants down around her knees and maybe her belly button :confused3

If you'd ever been a teenage or preteen girl, you would understand why it's huge.

As long as he had the sense to turn around and walk back out, I wouldn't make a big deal of it.

That is crazy. I really think our children should be able to attend to any "bathroom needs" w/ out an audience of their peers.

Oh, I totally agree with you. :thumbsup2 I'm just stating how there is double standard when it comes to this thing. Definitely not saying that it is right.

This was a pretty small infraction and the punishment was just IMO.

Seriously, you don't think that would be humiliating for a young girl/preteen?

Okay, I honestly think and have posted this thing is no big deal in the end.

However, if a girl is on the toilet and a boy walks in, it might very well be a huge thing to that girl. Of course as a young girl that went to a middle school that had a few bathrooms with no doors on them, I can tell you it had to be a dire emergency that thankfully never happened for me to use one of those stalls!

As a man, it might be something that doesn't automatically come to mind, no idea. But again, while I think this prank was just that, a prank or dare, I think that in the instance a boy walked into a girls bathroom with no stall doors, that would be a huge issue for many girls. But then I think its a huge issue for them to have to frequent a bathroom with no stalls and other girls can see them.

This wouldn't make the idea that a boy playing a prank anymore of a pervert, but it would up the anty A LOT in my opinion to the girl who is sitting on the toilet when he walks in.

The middle school my son attended in 6th grade (just five years ago) had no doors on the boys bathroom stalls (no idea about the girls bathroom, assume it was the same) but many parents complained and they were eventually put back on.

In today's age of cell phone cameras, I would be surprised if many stalls are doorless. At least I hope!

Particularly if it's a young girl/preteen who is dealing with tampons and/or pads during her menstrual cycle. I'm sorry, I also don't go for the "boys will be boys" excuses. It's not a funny prank, they are only out of school for one day, and they will think twice before attempting another stupid prank.

So if your 13 year old daughter came home from school and told you that while she was sitting on the toilet a boy walked in the bathroom and saw her you would be cool with that? Riiiight.

No, that's not all he's going to see. He's going to see pubic hair. He might see her changing a pad or a tampon. If he happens to catch her wiping, he could see a LOT of her private area. As a 13 yr old girl, having anyone see any of that would have made me want to curl up and die, and I do not think I'm alone.
