I am listening to the soundtrack from World of Motion on Magictrips Radio on Live365 and realized just how much I miss the World of Motion, Horizions and the original Journey into Your Imagination. I know most think these were dated but I for one still miss them..smjj

I miss Horizons, too. I don't understand why they shut it and let it sit there not being used.

My kids miss 20,000 Leagues (got to ride it in D'land). Instead of killing Toad's Wild Ride, they could've updated it and put the honeypots in Snow White's place. SW is a total waste of electricity imho.

They are using the Horizons building. It will open next year as Mission: Space. :D

Oh I miss them too!! But unfortunately, these kinds of rides are becoming a thing of the past. Now it's "faster, louder" that seems to carry the day.
But heck--at least we got to see them!! Think of all the folks who'll go to WDW and never even know those rides were even there.

I miss those too! Especially Horizons. Oh well, atleast we still have Spaceship Earth:D

Speaking of Spaceship Earth, what I really miss is the former theme song, "Tomorrow's Child". At least it's being used as "bush music" as you go into Epcot. Shows that they liked it!

I really miss Walter Cronkite as the narrator...but I guess I'm showing my age. ;)

I miss them too...

About a month ago I watched all my video from my 1990 and 1991 trips. I am so glad I filmed all these shows. Even if the quality is not all that good by today's standards (I had a big, 'ol hoist it on your shoulder RCA camcorder :p ) I can still see them and most importantly, hear the soundtracks and music from all those wonderful attractions.

I miss them, too. Those rides are just as "classic" as Snow White, Peter Pan and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I hate that every new ride has to be a "thrill" or simulator ride. How many times can you sit in car, get thrown around and watch a movie on a screen??? I long for the rides that took some thought and imagination. It's very sad. :(
Wish I had thought to film those rides, too. :(

Uncleromulus: That is SO true I am glad I got to see a lot of the old rides and shows like Mickey Mouse Review, the Skyway, 20,000 Leagues, Mr. Toad, original Tiki Room, Horizons, World of Motion, original Immagination, Old Illuminations, etc..

PandyPaws: I am really glad I taped all those old shows and rides too! What Disney needs to do is get a DVD set (like Walt Disney Treasures: Disneyland USA) for WDW together and show the old rides.

I so miss World of Motion and Horizons! I was just thinking a few days ago how cool that city towards the end of World of Motion was. I truly miss the music from Horizons... it was so neat to me. I will say though that I really do like the updated SE a little more than the original. Jeremy Irons really just is good for it and I do like that ending music much better. I don't mind updates like that, but the old JIYI was so great... I have no idea why they had to gut that one and Mr. Toad too :(

I too wish that they'd bring in more rides like the "classics" they have... you know ones where the WHOLE family can enjoy it together :)

Now THAT would be a set very much worth buying!! For WDW and for DL! :D

Thanks for the responses. As to the music like "Tomorrow's Child". I listen to it as well as the sound tracks of all the old rides almost daily on www.live365. I found this internet provider several months ago on a post here. They have several different stations that play only WDW park music. I go to work, pull it up and listen all day long. My radio as work just gathers dust now...smjj

I always loved World of Motion :(

I never got into Horizons. I still thought of it as a "new" attraction since it wasn't there during my first trip to Epcot.

I don't get the whole JII/JIYI thing either. I think the 1st one was better than the other two. The current one is so dull.

My earliest memory of Epcot was putting the flag together in Commicore. Sure, it may have been run by a TRS-80 and it would be out of date today, but sometimes I long to assemble the flag again in Innoventions. :)

Here's another oldie from Communicore.....remember building your own roller coaster? Now my kids do it at home on our computer but on our honeymoon, 16 short years ago, this was high-tech!
