I know it's not Disney but I'm taking my daughters to Bournemouth for a few days next week & I'm really looking forward to it.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what to do? Kids are 11 & 5 and we will have car. They've been before with my parents so know that they want to do the Oceanarium and go to Hengistbury Head!

Also, can anyone tell me how to get to the car park for the Metro Palace Court Hotel??? I don't want to look like a lost muppet on the one-way system :goodvibes

we always have to go to poole pottery, my two love it there ( or i do anyway :rotfl: )

Theres a nice pizza hut there!

I hope the weather is better than it is now (torrential rain), then you could take them to the beach.

Bournemouth is great - I lived here about 5 years ago whilst training for my job. Have you thought about a visit to Monkey World - it's a bit out of Bournmouth but a great day out. There are quite a few activities around the pier too!!

Thanks for all the info so far.

As for the parking - I know (roughly) where the hotel is but apparently the hotel car park is not on the same street as the hotel (hotel is on a one way street but the car park is behind the hotel I think, not sure if it's a public car park or specifically for hotel).

I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing but I think I'll be a bit frantic after 2 hours in the car and the kids asking "are we there yet"!! I just have visions of driving round in circles :rotfl:

Hi Sarah

The front of the hotel is in Westover Road - keep to the right hand side of the road around the one way system until you get to the back of the hotel and you will see the car park on the right hand side - it is for both hotel and general parking - i think the hotel guests may have a seperate floor to park on.

Don't expect too much from the Oceanarium it certainly isn't Seaworld!!!!
Hengistbury Head is nice (a short walk from where I live) for a walk and views and perhaps a picnic. Bournemouth Town Centre is very noisy and rowdy on friday and saturday nights - populated by gangs of drunken revellers generally fighting and being abusive (a nightclub doorman likened it to a warzone in a recent local paper article) some roads around where you are staying are closed off to traffic by the police on these nights because of the trouble. In general I don't think much of Bournemouth - lousy shopping centre and poor restaurants. Nice places to visit are Corfe Castle (on the way to Swanage), Bovington Tank Museum and the New Forest.

Have fun

Lol

Floridalol - thanks for the info, especially about the hotel. At least now if I drive round like a lost muppet I know I really should be driving round in circles as it's one way!!!

We're only there Monday - Thursday so should miss the drunkeness (apart from me in the hotel bar ;) ).

If the weather is nice, take a trip to Sandbanks (if you have a car - only about 15 minutes drive) and marvel at all the million pound mansions. They have some truly stunning houses there, all along the sea front.
