I found FE homes for 98 of my items and was on to the next 160+ pieces when I stumbled upon this photo and had to play a little. (The name of the ship is the Cougar Ace, it was transporting over 4,000 Mazda vehicles in 2006 when it capsized in Alaska). Probably because all the cars were left-hand drive.

I know that folks say, "lol" a lot, and perhaps you do. I don't generally, but I'm appreciative of a reason to grin, but this picture truly made me laugh out loud! Perfect, and luckily I have 1 piece of magnetic paper left, so (if you don't mind, Lynne) I'll just make myself a little magnet...

Great job on the mini-nav, Dee! My dh, who was publisher of one of the 100 biggest newspapers in the country (granted, there's a lot of difference in size between the ones at the top of the list and those further down....) and twice on the Pulitzer Prize selection committee, before his health failed, is sure to approve!

And wasn't that cleverly done, how I just slipped that bit of self-aggrandizement in without any of you even noticing!

Here's some more recent (updated Dec 2009) info from Virtual Tourist:

Here's an official site: - looks more useful.

Thanks Lynne this was very helpful. But I was looking for the FGC train schedule from Placa Espanya to Monteserrat. I haven't been able to figure out their official website www.renfe.es. I think the "origin" is Barcelona, but I can't find the "destination" of Montserrat. :confused3

Ah well. I tried on my 2 formals yesterday, since it's been at least 6 years since I acquired them. May I suggest (in all modesty) that we really ought to have a contest for most wonderfullest formal? And, frankly, none of the rest of you need apply. I'm sure you were riveted by my description several threads ago about my thrift-store find of the perfect cruise dress for which I paid a measly $14. Well, I'd forgotten that it is not covered in sequins, like I remembered, but it is completely BEADED. And many of those aforementioned beads HANG DOWN AND SWING GENTLY as I modestly saunter.

It is not too late to just cancel your whole cruise if you don't think whatever you're planning on wearing will stand up to the competition I plan to introduce! Man. I'm going to look great!

Do they make a sound as they swing? :rotfl2: That would get you the prize hands down. :lmao:

Just kidding - Kristi

Sample award certificate has been made and sent for consultation. Probably will need tweaking.

Tomorrow will be busy as it's the only day off I have to run many errands - not sure what will be open on Sunday. I have GOT to get a pedicure! :scared1: I'll probably have to be there first thing in the morning before the rush of people getting ready for Easter services. :goodvibes

Still haven't gotten an answer to a question.

What are my chances of getting an appointment to get my hair styled for the first formal night? I can't style my hair to save my life (seriously - even my hairdresser agrees :rolleyes1).

Can you call the cruise line and make an appointment in advance? :confused3 That would be your best bet.

I was going to start packing or at least sorting through what to pack...

BUT... Just found out yesterday from Gavin's teacher that their HUGE Endangered Species project is due Monday the 26th of April. Yes, the day after we get home! Fortunately, they write their entire report in school & the tri-fold display board is to be done at home. Directions & grading rubric came home yesterday... So, everyone else has 3 weeks to complete this... we have 1... actually less if you count, Easter & of course the very important OPENING DAY at Citi Field (Let's Go Mets!) on Monday! On the bright side, he has been working on it all day & is probably 75% complete! And on the really bright side-- I spoke to both of his teachers about the week he will be missing & what he will be responsible for as far as make up work & they BOTH waved their hand in the air & said NOTHING!!! Sweet!!!

OK, back to the Jaguar....

Maybe we don't know yet it depends on how late it will be saturday and we are going later in the evening to KSC for the Launch so we have to see.
Just send me an pm when you are there with your cell phone # and maybe we can meet....

Now that's on my bucket list ... and only 4 left. :sad2:

:headache: The sad thing is that they rarely launch on the day planned. Many people go out there only to have them scrub the launch. :confused3

The good thing is that the weather is supposed to be clear but wind may be a problem. :thumbsup2

The shuttle craft is set to liftoff Monday at 6:21 a.m. EDT on from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Frankly, I'm amazed you were able to find a use for that word - rather impressive. The first time was not so much self promotion; the second was a throw-down challenge.

I posted this version on the Med cruise thread; I can just picture everyone running to the side of the ship to see something:

Hey Kileybeth! You were in my neighborhood! (Shady Maple ROCKS:thumbsup2 ...but I try to avoid it pre-cruise ...it is a carbfest!) I on the other hand was in Washington DC for work....we may have passed eachother on 222?

Also ....Are you still on the 7:15PM- SW flight next friday night? We will keep an eye out for you.

QUOTE]

:rotfl::rotfl: Oh dear, no! I did not go to the buffet, I gave that up years ago for that very reason BUT after walking around the grocery store for over an hour and letting 3 kids fill up my cart with "But it's my very favorite thing!" many times over, I may as well of! [seriously? just the charms without the lucky in bulk? For a buck I was to weak to say no:rotfl:] And red velvet cake done right? apple fritters, pinapple bread. . .oh dear! We used to go shop once a month for years but being there yesterday made me wonder if that is exactly how I acquired my "diabetic status" :headache:

Our SW flight leavs BWI at 5:50pm I think. My DH commutes to Wash DC everyday (100 miles each way) and no,no he can not take the train. He uses Rt301 from here so at least he doesn't have to contend with the madness of I-95 daily.

I on other hand meandered my way up Rt896 onto Rt10 and Rt41 and came back down much the same way after spending way to much time on Rt30 and Rt23!

So today, I ran madly out of the house because I did not try my daughters little white shoes on for Easter until this am, not the brighest thing to overlook. Yup,small. All is fine now as they still had the right size in stock (nothing short of amazing 2 day sbefore Easter) :)

Decided on way home it was the day for the mani/pedi/eyebrow visit. Umm, didn't I just say Easter was in 2 days:headache: oh well, the pedi will last but the mani will not survive the weekend! Oh well, I'm not to worried about it.

And now the BIG question, who has weighed their checked luggage? I finally started putting things in and weighing bags today, it was not pleasant. Seriously? 50 lbs? One bag? oh boy! This is going to be a huge challenge. And then to bring extra things home? Let the dumping and weeding out begin.

I did switch out one of our rolling duffels (10 lbs empty!) with a new girly one I picked up which is only 5lbs, so I figure for that trade I can bring my shoes right?:rotfl: The trick there is getting my DH to agree to carry/move it for me!

Let the excitement continue to build! We sail in 7 days!!!!:yay::yay:

Awards Ballot -

Ummm , not to be snooty or anything, but I thought we were changing "queen of the cougars" to "princess of the cougars"? Not to be snooty, but I kinda like being the "cougar queen". :goodvibes Though I could be convinced to give up my crown at the end of the cruise - with some persuasion. Rum Runners, Daquaris, pina coladas, daquaris mixed with pina coladas, strawberry margaritas (frozen), konk coolers, etc are tempting treats - just not all at one time

princess: Kristi

Cougars is not very Disney.... You can be more Disney than that...queen of the ...Ducks...Plutos...Mickeys...aaaaaa:mad: OK maybe cougars

42 pounds for my main one. :thumbsup2 I'm carrying another medium size almost empty for "stuff" to bring home.

I hunted down more answers.
The R5 line from Placa Espanya is run by FGC.

Network map: On the left (west) side of the map, you can see the rainbow of lines coming out of Pl. Espanya (in the middle bottom of the map)

http://www.fgc.es/eng/planol.asp

English version for timetable search:

http://www.fgc.es/eng/index.asp

-- Lines -- select Llobregat - Anoia Line
-- Departure Station -- Pl. Espanya
-- Arrival Station -- Monistrol de Montserrat

I used Friday, April 23 as the date for these:
currently departs Placa Espanya at 7:36, 8:16, 8:36, 9:36, 10:36..
Travel time is 1 hour 8 minutes

Return train departs Monistrol de Monserrat at 11:44, 12:44, ... until at least 8:44pm ... Travel time 1 hour 7 minutes

The brochure for the train & funicular or cremallera (Rack Railway) in English/Spanish/Catalan:

http://www.fgc.es/downloads/info_annexa/Triptic_2010tz.pdf

Pl. Espanya is on the 1st ring (corona) if you see those words somewhere

You'd be surprised what can fill up that 5 lbs...thats a lot of extra room imo :thumbsup2

I'm all packed. We leave tomorrow.
One checked bag, 27 lbs.

Woody

:scared1::eek:Excuse me, what??? How can you only have 27 lbs of luggage? Are you going to wear your underpants inside out for some of the days? Are you wearing flip flops to dinner?

Ok, now my real question....did you wife pack some of your stuff in her bag? ;) 27 lbs is incredible minimal to me, even for a guy....I am flabbergasted!

Picked up my pounds and euros on the way home since we got to leave early today. Thought about getting my pedicure on the way home to, but didn't have my sandals with me, so I'll save that for tomorrow.

Have to type up my taxes (all prep work done) and might just have to go shopping for some new...um....foundation garmets. Then the organizing and initial packing of all the 'stuff' will commence

Still have to trim and laminate door signs...that will be an after work project on Wed unless I just bite the bullet and pop over to Kinkos and shell out a few bucks and do it there.

Things are moving along nicely! :thumbsup2

I did not really understand how important the weight issue was till I saw your posts - Thanks for the tips!

I stopped over there today and I asked for the man that Gumdrop told me about. I did speak to Bud. He was very nice. I told him that some people are staying there on Friday night before the cruise and that we were planning to get together to meet everyone. He took me out to the pool which was very nice but it was very crowded. He said they do have meeting rooms but they charge for them. They have a big breakfast room and he said we probably could use it and it is free. He asked me if they grouped their reservations and I said I wasn't sure but I didn't think so. HE said he would of given them a group rate.
The place is very nice and he was so friendly. So I guess we will stick to the pool area and if it is crowded or closed we can maybe use the breakfast room.Someone mentioned ordering pizza. I am sure one of the several pizza places on that road would deliver or we could go pick it up.
Things are all falling into place and this time next week we would have met some of our fellow disers. The excitement is building.
