Very quiet tonight :surfweb: Maybe it will pick up tomorrow.

For those of us that booked this cruise before December 2008, we were charged a fuel supplement charge. The date for determining if we get a refund of OBC or not was March 18, and it doesn't look like we did? So we're just out that money right? I was hoping for OBC! Oh well!

From DCL website (searched "fuel"):

Disney Cruise Line Eliminates Fuel Surcharge for New Bookings
CELEBRATION, Fla., (December 1, 2008) – Disney Cruise Line announced today that the company is eliminating fuel surcharges for all new bookings, effective today. The decision comes as a result of decreasing fuel price trends within the marketplace.

For cruises that have already been booked, the following guidelines have been established for the refund of fuel supplements paid:

If the closing price on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) of West Texas Intermediate fuel is below $70 a barrel two weeks prior to the beginning of the calendar quarter (dates specified below), the company will refund fuel surcharges paid in the form of an onboard credit.

The determination of which quarter a cruise is in will be based solely on the sailing date. The entire cruise will be considered to be part of the quarter that the sailing date originates in.

Fuel Price Determination Date Quarter of Possible Fuel Surcharge Refund
June 17, 2009 Third Quarter 2009
September 17, 2009 Fourth Quarter 2009
December 18, 2009 First Quarter 2010
March 18, 2010 Second Quarter 2010
June 17, 2010 Third Quarter 2010
September 17, 2010 Fourth Quarter 2010

To see if you are eligible for the onboard credit, go to My Disney Cruise on or after the determination date. Retrieve your reservation and view the Invoice Information under Reservation Details.
The elimination of the fuel surcharge for new bookings applies to sail dates through the end of 2010. The company will continue to closely monitor fuel prices. Reinstatement of a fuel surcharge may be necessary in the future.

When I downgraded from a cat11 to a cat12, my TA said that DCL refunded my fuel surcharge at the same time. They did not give me OBC but refunded by credit card. On my cc statement, it just had several listings for DCL refunds but they were not specific in what they were for.

I don't know. I'll ask my TA again about it though.

Raine is so excited too. I have a feeling its going to be a great match! :thumbsup2

Back to the Rideau Route discussion:
We put in in Seeley's Bay which the map says is in Whitefish Lake but I don't remember that name. I don't think that we ever canoed past Newboro Lake. My sister, brother and I cannot remember where we left Newboro Lake though. We do remember a place where the owner had a woodworking shop but are not sure if we camped on his lot last or elsewhere.

Do you know of a woodworking shop on Newboro Lake? He made lovely furniture.

Our final payment was reduced by the amount of the original fuel surcharge. :woohoo:

If you go to *****************, they have pictures of all the windows and their obstructions. Only two are significant. I have stayed in several of them and loved my free window upgrade and location on Deck 5.

:confused3 The link got redacted.

It's been a while since DH and I have played Hand and Foot -but we LOVE playing it! Would be great to connect up and play a round with you at some point during the cruise. Let me know if you would like me to bring extra decks of cards!

Heather

Hi Heather,

We will be bringing at least 4 decks of cards, but they are light and fit well in the backpack, so might get a box at Costco and bring several extra. We will definitely be up to playing with people as we game an average of 2-3 times a week when we are at home. So we will probably be playing something almost everyday.

Did some retail therapy today. Got some tops for dinner. Also found a dress for dinner at Palo. Still have some more in my system (like a new pair of shoes) and need to get my hair cut, but it's coming along.

I did pack almost 95% for myself! I also got it all in the one suitcase. :scared1: The only left is a vest for my tux (it needs buttons) and my toiletry bag which is very small. Probably what I will do is take another suitcase (not large) for things we bring home.

I did make luggage tags today. :thumbsup2 I plan to make some ID tags for our luggage for easier spotting in a crowd. :3dglasses I also transferred my camera equipment to a smaller backpack.

I still need to do my taxes :confused3 but not now. :sad2:

Disney Air Question.

Being lazy.

I have Disney air and I'm due to fly into MCO Saturday morning. Will Disney pick up my bags from the airline (baggage claim) and transport them to the ship or do I have to claim them and get them to cruise line check-in? The former would be great, but with TSA regulations I'm not sure it can happen.

If Disney picks them up, I assume I must have my shipboard luggage tags attached before I leave Philly.

Oh, and in three weeks I should be at the airport waiting to board my flight which brings up another question..

If I switch to an earlier departure, do I have to notify Disney so they can get my luggage (if that's what they do) or do they just automatically get luggage from all inbound flights?

Funny thing happened yesterday. They asked at work if I was flying out Saturday morning. I guess they thought I might be able to work that day.

Obobber, I have the answer to that! I asked DCL when I checked about putting my Frequent Flyer info on my airline res. Here is what I found out:

We put the green luggage tags that they sent us on at home and when we check the luggage at PHL we won't see it again until it is delivered on the ship.
When we get off the plane we go immediately to the 1st floor of terminal B to get the transportation to the ship with only our carry-on bags. We will be put on a bus at Disney's Magical Express. When the bus is full it will go directly to the ship.

I have seen on this thread that sometimes DCL has a part of the ME desk at the far end where they will check us in. This would be great!:woohoo:

I hope you can get on our flight, US Airways 1633, Which leaves at 6:40AM but that would mean an awfully early trip to the airport. Sometimes I think I'm getting too old to get up at 4AM for a flight but this one will be worth it I think. I've flown Spirit out of Atlantic City at 6AM to go to WDW but then our room wasn't ready and I ended up sleeping on the loungers next to the Wilderness Lodge pool and Old Faithful kept going off every hour and sprinkled me with cold water. That was a Christmas vacation about 8 years ago and I guess my tickets didn't start until the next day. Now I just do an annual pass and go to the parks. But I ramble...

If you booked your flights with DCL, wouldn't they have to do this for you? :confused3

I just wanted to introuce myself. My name is Natalie. I am 26 years old, single, and a native New Yorker. I am a teacher who has a Masters degree and I am looking for people to hang out with. My main interests are theater, writing, reading, and teaching. I would love to find someone to go to the shows with, walk a mile around the ship, take aerobics class, and lay out by the pool. I look forward to meeting everyone!! Thanks!

Natalie:goodvibes

Welcome aboard Natalie!!

My family is a bunch of native NYers from Long Island. DH and I are both 31, and we're traveling with my brother and SIL who are about the same age.

Ok because it was causing so much confusion I have went into the spread sheet and added the people in that had not put there info on their yet. You will find the add ins in BLUE - I copied and pasted the info for those people from the post on the first page of this thread with their numbers next to it. Please check the spread sheet if you are in FE #1 and see if your name is in blue - if it is, please fill in your info like everyone else's on the spread sheet (room number, ages, etc. - as much as you feel comfortable - or put "info furnished on cruise")

So now the spreadsheet matches the list on page 1 (post 8) of this thread BUT there is one name on the spread sheet that is not on the official list - The Friedly Family - can someone tell us if this person is one of the "friends of" or has someone accidently added themselves to the FE #1

Hope I did not step on any toes doing this. Just trying to help.

Krisann

Thank you!!!

We're still finishing our FE gifts, but I'll need to start grouping them into bunches per stateroom since I have one gift for each person in group #1.

Just to let everyone know I was at target this week and in the travel size they had bottles of detergent (2 washes) of ALL - and sealed packets of Tide (1 load) for .99

I know many are no longer using the sheets so I thought I would pass this info along.

Krisann

Is there a reason why people decided not to use the sheets???? I just bought a package of the sheets from walmart, but I'm not sure if there was something bad about them that people didn't like.

In an hour and a half my flight leaves for FLORIDA!!!!:woohoo::rotfl::cool1:three weeks from now ;):cheer2:

Hee, I was going to say, gee that's a long trip!

Hi everyone. I just wanted to pop on to say that my Grandmother passed away last night after a very quick but peaceful few days in hospice care. Her family was around her, in her home.

Thanks you for all your prayers, well wishes and caring messages. It means a lot to me to be able to share this difficult situation with you.

I'm so sorry

I received a call a few minutes ago that my cousin David (who has been battling cancer for a few years) has been admitted to Yale. Apparently, it has spread quite badly and they aren't even moving him to Hospice care at this point. My heart is breaking for him and his family. He is only 42 years old and has 4 young sons under the age of 8. They are not very optimistic that he will pull through. It is just so sad.

Oh no :( I'm so sorry for your cousin and your family.

:confused3 Don't know .... I am. :thumbsup2 Going to WalMart today to get some along with buttons for my vest. :laundy:

It must be Saturday or something and everyone else has a life outside of the DISBoard :confused3 Maybe I should go and do the errands I have planned instead of :surfweb: without the coffee!
