Wondering if anyone will have an answer to my question. Was discussing the trip with my folks and the topic of food came up. My dad (a former Navy officer) wondered where they provisioned during the transatlantic. Which got me thinking...does a provisioning boat meet up with the Magic at some point during the crossing? I would imagine that they could store quite a bit of food...but the fresh fruit might be a bit dicey by day 6. Thoughts?

I don't know where we get more "stuff" but I remember reading somewhere (a trip report maybe) that they ran out of some things on the last EBTA. I think I remember Mickey bars being one of them. They picked up a substitute in Europe somewhere and people were saying they were bummed. I think pancake mix was another. Or maybe waffle mix. It's been a while since I read this and I have a real good "forgetter." I just remember thinking if I ever went on that cruise I would get everything I wanted to try at the beginning of the trip and not leave anything to chance. Hopefully, they learned and will stock extra.

If you take the galley tour they will explain it. It is very cool. No ship meets up with the Magic during the TA. The galley tour on the TA is nice bc it is a little different then a reg cruise bc they explain how they do it.

We did not run out of Mickey Bars on the TA. They ran out of them sometime in Europe. We were also fine with pancakes and waffles. The only think I remember is the Krispie Kreme's not being available after the first few days. Mickey bars though were totally fine. We never went without anything on the TA. Not even the amazing peanut butter pie which our wonderful servers brought be every night for the last week! :thumbsup2 Too bad that is not on the menu anymore. The WBTA however did not have Mickey Bars bc they did not have a supplier in Europe. I heard the substitute was not good.

Good to know. Told you I had a good forgetter. I only like Krispy Kreme's hot off the line anyway. :thumbsup2 So, I can take my time ordering all my favorites. Thanks, Stephanie!

I am the same way with Krispie Kreme's....only hot off the line for me too!!! :thumbsup2

We want to get to the ship early and have never waited for the DCL bus at the resorts - we take the ME back to the airport early in the morning and catch one of the first busses out of the airport to the port - works like a charm for us because we enjoy getting there early.

Krisann[/QUOTE]

Krisann, do you know how early buses start leaving for the port from the airport? I was thinking of trying to stand by for (or switch to) an earlier flight Saturday AM.

KRISPIE KREMES? Have I died and gone to Heaven? All of the ones here closed.

By the way, 8 seconds in the microwave and they're almost as good as they are after they come from the sugar waterfall.

So I've decided that coming out of lurkerdom is bad since it's giving me yet another way to procrastinate on a Saturday morning! (My girls have dance soon so I should be out running or showering or something that's not posting!).

This thread moves crazy fast, but I'm glad to 'know' some folks doing the 5K! I will, indeed, be careful running on the deck and figure that the dreadmill will be my backup. The most I've ever done on a cruise ship was 9 miles, but I've got a half marathon planned for two weeks after I get back to keep me from eating my body weight in Mickey bars!

We are SUPER excited as we finally got our cruise docs yesterday!:woohoo::yay: We were fortunate enough to get a nice pixie dust upgrade (connecting sevens all the way to connecting fours!) but it didn't feel real until I saw it in black and white. (We are NEVER that lucky!!!) I had ordered pirate costumes for the kids and they arrived as well, so it was a fun day at the mailbox.

I can't believe that four weeks from today, we'll be on our way to Orlando!!! I am a chronic last-minute packer, but think that I might start throwing some of the stuff I've bought so far into one suitcase today. Even with doing laundry on board, the throught of packing for five people for 14 nights leaves me  (cause, yeah, packing for DH somehow falls to me too!).

I hope to be around more to get to know folks better in the coming weeks (crossing everything that work stays calm so I can focus on 'more important' things! ;))

Obobber--I'm on USAirways flight 743 leaving Barcelona at 10:35 for Philly. DCL says to get to the airport 4 hours before flight time so that means they should be taking us maybe at 6AM. Their schedule, not mine, they made the arrangements.

Does that mean I don't get a last breakfast onboard? One last meal?

Wild4Disney- sounds like we're flying together. Yeah! It will be nice to have someone to talk to on our 3 hour tour (add in Giligan Isle music).

Tinked-if you don't get breakfast, order room service the evening before and get some cookies or cheese tray at least.

. The WBTA however did not have Mickey Bars bc they did not have a supplier in Europe. I heard the substitute was not good.

And the Wonder left a supply for them on Castaway Cay, so they were all able to have Mickey Bars the last day of their cruise! :thumbsup2

On our WBPC we ran out of pineapple! They stopped serving it in the buffets but did have a small supply for the bars, for those fatty-fruity-boozie drinks. (Actually, I kind of feel responsible for them running out, I think I had more than my fair share.)

I think DCL has slowly learned that most of the repositioning cruises have a much higher adult ratio and they have been tweeking each one. I'll be interested to see if they've wised up and will be offering a CHAMPAGNE tasting! I believe they did ONE, the second week of the '08 WBPC after a group of us (Champagine Girls unite!) did our own.

I sent in a medical notice today for my daughter who has celiac disease. How great is it that she eats better on the disney cruise then she does at home!!! She loves the special treatment and I love knowing that she gets to eat healthy for 14 days and I don't have to cook!!! I need to figure out some provisions to bring along so that she has snacks for the flight home. I contacted Aer Lingus and requested a gluten free meal for her and a vegetarian meal for me. We will be set!

The people who work in this department are wonderful. I too sent in the forms for dd and they have been so great to work with! They even sent me pages explaining all of their excursions for both cruises that will work and not work with limited mobility. I have been very impressed with the department who handles this forms.

They won't be how you remember them. They are frozen and then defrosted. They really are not that great.

You will get breakfast but it is not much at all. It is at Topsiders and it is even more limited then the "limited" breakfast they offer on the last morning. We had to do this last time as DCL booked us on a super early flight on the way home.

So last night we were talking about whether anyone will "wave" us away when we pull away from the pier. I said they usually had a few folks out there with the mickey hands. He wondered if more folks would be out there sending us off since the ship is pretty much leaving for several months so more folks may have been working the terminal that day getting the ship ready to go.

So, I have some questions/wonderings:

Is the Magic doing the typical four-hour turn-around from the night before for this trip? You know, people getting off after a rushed breakfast so that the next crowd (us) can board in time for lunch? It seems like a huge trip to be taking (not just our TA, but the fact that the ship will be in Europe all summer) with just a 4-5 hour flip-time.

What special arrangements/events/little-things might we observe (eiether planned for guests or unplanned things that just need to happen that really aren't necessarily special for the guests) that will be different for this cruise because the ship is leaving for several months?

Yes normal turnaround time. What we notcied last time is a lot of CM's getting on and off the ship with lots of Wal Mart bags stocking up. They had just a few hours in between to get all they needed.

There were a lot of people waving good bye but we were too busy with the deck party to really notice. The deck party was the "same" expect I think the excitement was HUGE! The deck party had a lot of people, more then I have seen on a reg cruise. They handed out lots of streamers and really nice hard plastic imprinted with the dates of the sailing Mickey hand to wave. We still have our Mickey hands, they were GREAT!

The other special thing that I mentioned a few threads ago is the "Crossing the Atlantic" ceremony. It really was a lot of fun, expecially for the kids. Hardly anyone came. There are old Sailor traditions that are done when crossing the Atlantic. It was great fun and lots of great memories. They also gave certificates to all those who were there. The certificate was really nice too. Look out for it on the last sea day before Madeira. It was called "Are we there yet?" It is a ceremony that is done when crossing from the Western to the Eastern Hemisphere.

Now that sounds cool....I'll be sure to look for that if they do it this cruise. Provided I can drag myself off the deck chair! :lmao:

I am sure there will be people to wave us off. My friends who live here in the Port Canaveral area are all coming. Since we are leaving on a weekend Jetty Park is always full of people ( that is if this rain ever stops) and the campground there is usually full of people who come to see the ships sail on the weekend.

We're on the same flight with you. I don't know what sounds worse, having to get out of bed so early to get to the airport or sitting around for four hours in the airport with 3 tired kids!! Either way, definitely not looking forward to that day!!:(

Thanks, I added both to my To Do list for the cruise.:yay:
