I believe the majority of us flying out of Philly are leaving the night before. You never know about delays especially with the winter weather we have had thus far. Even though today the high was 60+ degrees this is just a tease with rainy and cold temperatures returning tomorrow night.

I really wish we could have flown out the night before, that would have been my preference, but we got pretty good rates for the five of us using Disney air and I don't think we had a choice. Looking forward to meeting you all on the cruise!!

We are doing the HOHO in London. Catching the Heathrow express to London and then back to airpot before evening flight.

Debit Card = ATM Card with a Master Card logo on it

This is what they say WILL GET FLAGGED and that I CAN'T note that I will be traveling ahead of time. Some security system they use called Falcon?!?

This is First Merit Bank....it's all over Ohio. I guess people in Ohio don't travel out of the country?

My card is the same but it's a VISA logo and my bank said just to call a week or two before we go and they will note the account so the don't put a hold on it while I'm gone. I also have a credit card through them and the said to do the same thing for that as well. So it may be your bank.

Do you have a credit card you can use instead?

So, I went to the bank today to square away my $$$ plans for the trip. I wanted to find out about using my debit card to get cash while in the ports and in Barcelona and London following the trip and/or what Plan B should be.

It seems to be very difficult for the bank to figure out how to support a customer traveling outside of the US?!?

My Debit Card- They CAN NOT note on my DEBIT account that I'll be traveling to avoid it getting flagged. It will get flagged and then I'll have to call my bank to ask them to remove the security flag. I have to wait until it is flagged before they can do anything and it will get flagged every time we go to a different country. This means I'll have to hope that I only need cash during banking hours EST and have access to a phone to which I can call the U.S.

Traveler's Checks- They advised me that most places don't take traveler's checks and that they are very hard to cash (even in banks). Of course, this also assumes that I'll be able to find an open bank to cash them (and since we'll be in Barcelona on Saturday and London on Sunday...this isn't likely).

Credit Cards- Well...yes, these will work (probably). Of course, these won't help in smaller restaurants and other places in the ports that only take cash...and won't get me cash unless I want to deal with high-interest cash advances (not willing to do this).

So, where does that leave me? Just cash? I'm not comfortable traveling with a ton of cash!

So how are others solving these issues?

Disney will exchange money for you - will they take travelers checks? If so bring travelers checks - put them on your account and then swap them out for local money.

I think that is what I am going to do. Will call and see if disney will take travelers checks - since they take personal checks - my guess is they will!

If you're looking for a bite to eat that won't take too much time or money, consider PRET A MANGER

We like Pret a Manger. We first tried it many years ago next to the Tower of London. It was a sunny day and we sat outside with a view of the Tower Bridge.

I believe that now the prices are slightly different (tax?) if you eat on the premises vs. take away.

We were there just last Saturday and probably won't be able to go back until the 21st. It would be nice to have a mini-meet.

Still no docs here, DCL says not to expect them until 2 weeks out

Isn't Topsiders a buffet? I'm guessing here - can't we notify Parrot Cay in advance that we are brining a group of X # of people and they can seat us together? Anyone with experience in this situation?



Yes, they day before, ask your head server what team will be serving lunch in PC that day and notify them that there will be a group for lunch that day and they will reserve a section of the restaurant for you (and have the appropriate number of servers in that area). Sometimes at lunch they don'thave a full team in the restaurants, but that's probably on port days, come to think of it. They are VERY used to dealing with large group, especially those wacky lime green people!

If I'm on my way somewhere I would smile and nod and probably say "Hi". If I wasn't running off, or ran into them waiting for an elevator I would definately speak, perhaps ask how they are enjoying their cruise.

I noticed a huge spike in my Flickr views that originated from this thread. Thanks for noticing and complimenting my photos I am SOOOO envious that you guys get to go on a TA cruise in less than a month now!!!! We are going on a cruise next month but with Princess, my first non-DCL cruise I'm excited but not as excited as I would be if I were on your cruise. Have a great time and take lots of photos!!
