I'm thinking mostly from the aspect of TAXI CABS......

(I'll be doing NO shopping!)

They use British Pounds or Gibraltar Pounds. Anything else (according to the email I got from the cab company) will be charged at a fairly high exchange rate to assure they still get all their money when the foreign currency (including Euros) makes it to the bank.

Yeah, we paid the driver we hired for the day in dollars. Good thing on no shopping!

We still have this "ball" that we bought there for Madison. It was a reg bouncy ball you could get in any store in the US for about a $2...we paid $10! Yes, we chose to buy it but it was the cheapest thing we could find!!!

If anyone has a child who is into trains there is a toy store with a TON of thomas the train items. Again, they were all VERY over priced but a great selection.

Our taxi driver quoted us in $'s but then again that was when the $ was worth more!

I am driving my family NUTS here. I am sooo excited. Can't imagine what I'll be like in 12 days!!
We have gone to disney for 2..2 1/2 weeks before but this is well beyond that!! My family is excited but I am over the top. I know you guys get it!!

When traveling, I try to use the local currency whenever possible.

I found that if I pay using something else (dollars or Euros), things cost much more. So a $6 cab ride using local currency becomes $10 using U.S. dollars.

Does anyone know if Disney will have Gibralter Pounds available for exchange on the ship? I was going to get some Euros before we go but not G.pounds?

oiy. and no idea how many to get. . .gotta pay our portion of taxi rental and then maybe entrence fees a couple places and a couple small, (very small $ trinkets really) souvies for the 5 kids we are leaving home!

Hey! Maybe they would like some foreign currency to add to their coin collections and then I wouldn't need to pay to exchange it back before we leave Gilbralter. . .

this whole currency thing is soooo much to think about. Can't I just pay for my misc water botttle and snack with a credit card please?

I refuse to leave the airport on our Dublin, Ireland layover and I WILL charge everything there or WAIT! I should use up my Euros there????

What do they use in Florida? Is the dollar still good, or have we switched to the Florida Dollar?

I have made a vow that at ports the only shopping I will do is for Christmas Ornaments - I am slowly creating a tree with all the different countries/ports that we visit on our trips - try to find ones that are flat and not breakable. I have to plan for another disney one too though - yep I am one of the crazy people who paid $50 for a Panama Canal Christmas ornament in 2008!

Money from other countries is always a cool souvenior for people back home who might never see it.

In the UK you can only pay with the GBP not with Euro's.

I would not count on it. The recent letter from DCL only mentions Euros.

Correct.

I'm bringing GBP (aka Pounds Sterling, United Kingdom Pounds, Greater Britain Pounds). GBP are good in England, Scotland, Gibraltar, etc.

The Gibraltar Pound (GIP) is good only in Gibraltar. It is not accepted anywhere else.

When we are in Gibraltar, try not to get Gibraltar Pounds as change. If you do, spend it before leaving.

I have the City Under Siege booked in Gibraltar for me and my son but that is $150 for the two of us and we really are not tour people. We are more go on our own people. I have looked and found lots of information but nothing good on how we can do the rock on our own.

Does any one have a good link or information on getting around Gibraltar and/or getting from the ship to the rock?

DEE - I have fixed the sheet all the way in excel - but I cannot seem to get it to go back onto the google sheets correctly - do you have excel? I can send you the file that way for the Mini Navigator (you are the one doing that right?)

I will be gone for a few hours but will get with you when I get back.

There were some formatting issues I took care of and everything is back to normal in my file. If you know how to upload an excel file to the google thing without copy and paste let me know!
