what is it and how does it work? I've had a few folks tell me to bring $200 down with me to book a "bounce back". This is our first family trip and I've been saving like crazy. I just don't see me pulling it off "right away" if the bounce back offer is for 30 or 60 days. So...can someone tell me how is works? Is it worth it? And is it true I can only book it while we are down there staying at the hotel? Thanks!!

A bounceback offer is sometimes left in your Disney hotel room. The idea is to get you to book your next vacation while you are still sniffing the pixie dust. So, you must book it while you are still there. In fact, you must call from your resort room telephone and specifically request the offer code.

The offer could be anything that Disney feels will reel people in. It could be a great room discount, or free dining or a kids play free package. If you book, you will be asked to place a deposit of one night's room fee (for room-only reservations) or $200 for a package. You can place it on a credit or debit card, so there is no need to bring additional cash with you.

ETA: There are usually very specific travel dates for the offer. Holidays are always blacked out, as are the busier times of the year. There are no set dates or range of dates that you consistently see for bouncebacks. Sometimes, it is good for several months and other times, you might have an offer than is reaching the end of its limit and it will only have a couple of months left.

Is this part new? A couple of years ago I checked for prices while standing in downtown disney and actually booked while I was waiting for my plane at the Orlando airport? I just needed the code that was on the bounceback offer paper.

Well, I know that when I called from my cell phone in January, they knew I wasn't calling from a resort phone. And they knew what resort I was staying in at the time. And the flier in the room states that you need to call from your resort room. But I suppose that, as with all things Disney, YMMV. However, if I really wanted to book a bounce back, I would not wait until I got to the airport just to test the system.

You have to book before you check-out. I tried once from the car on check-out day and they wouldn't do it.

This past January, we had a bounce back that stretched out for most of this year - we booked for late October - 30% off deluxes, I think. Maybe 35%.

oh yeah totally. at the time we were just so indecisive about it. It became one of those things that if we could do it, it was meant to be. If not, then oh well. This was almost 3 years ago, so things could have easily gotten stricter.

thx for answering!

One more thought....if I book a bounce back and then something better comes along (like if it's a % off but then FD open up) can I change offers? Again...I'm a plan-a-holic and sav-a-holic....so I'm not sure I can swing it again for later this year or beginning of next. We go in Sept and plan on going to CA next summer. So not sure I can save for two vacations.

Here's a copy of the current BB, posted by kind DISer ancestry:

This particular flyer shows Deluxe resorts, but the fine print mentions you can ask about other resorts/categories. When checking, this one is a room discount BB offer for 35% off Deluxe and Villas, 30% Mods and 25% Values, but the remaining BB dates left now are only through December 2012:
8/5—10/6/12, 10/21—11/3/12, 11/11—11/17/12, 11/25—12/1/12 and 12/9-12/15/12.

Depending on when you go, this room discount BB might or might not be the BB that you are offered (sometimes there is no BB offer at all). Based on previous years I expect this one will probably expire sometime in August and a new Free Dining BB will begin - and that one will probably be to be able to book a FD package for next years FD dates (probably Aug/Sept 2013).

FYI the $200 people are telling you to bring is in case of a package BB, like the FD BB. If you get a Room Discount BB (like the one pictured above) you will have to put down one nights room charge as a deposit, so the amount will depend on the resort you choose.

Same old/regular cancellation policies also apply to BB offers. But you can't book one after you check out, so if there is any chance you want to book one, do it while there and decide before penalties apply, just call extension 8844 from your resort room. :thumbsup2

Excellent...thank you very much for posting the BB offer pic from the other Dis-er. Just looking at the black out dates (only showing until dec 2012) then I KNOW it won't happen. I work retail and am blacked out nov and dec. And unless I win the lottery...we won't be able to afford to go 4-6 weeks after we return in Sept. But maybe I will get something for next year and by the time we go in Sept DS will have started school and I will know when a spring break is. Maybe that might be something to consider....IDK. But thank you very much for all the information.

I am definitely going to book a BB for F&WF when I am there in 12 days :cool1:

Booked the BB from that same flyer and will be enjoying 7 nights at the WL CL for under $2400.

What are the odds that the bounceback offer would change by the end of August? I would totally book for my trip next year :goodvibes

I wish I knew in April that I was going to be going back in August, I would have booked right then...
