To those of you who are being transferred to another resort, have your reservations been transferred in MDE? Meaning - does the new resort show up? Mine still shows WL.

Has anyone been able to do the following:

Have an existing late fall (post late Oct once the construction will start) rack rate reservation for a WL room.

ADD the current "rest of fall 2015" ROOM ONLY discount.

THEN have the $100 per night "construction credit" added ??

I know people who had Free Dining have been able to get the construction credit; I am curious about the RO discount.

I booked my FD in April for the fall and then the construction announcement was made well afterward. That's when I was able to receive the $100/night/room discount. I did not add any other discount prior to the offer - I already had it on my reservation and the deal window was closed which is why I was allowed to keep my FD. I don't know that you could add a discount and then get another one. If you HAD an RO discount prior to the announcement then I would think it would work. The other possibility is getting lucky with some magic.

Yes. Mine changed after about 10 minutes.

Hmmm. mine didn't change. Mine is through the "magical" agency though, so through a different department at Disney. I will wait one more day and give the TA a call.

For what it is worth, as a DVC member, I will be staying at our home resort, VWL in a 2 Bdrm from 10/30 - 11/9. I did receive a personal phone call from Disney Guest Services advising me of the upcoming construction. I was told about Hidden Springs Pool, the nature trail inaccessability, the boat rentals/ dock closed, bike rentals and noise from 9am - 7pm, sometimes will be loud.
I asked if I could be transferred to a different DVC resort, I would also be willing to do a split stay. While I was on the phone, Disney Gueast Services contacted DVC and the only availability would be at SSR with a 24 point savings that would be credited back to my account. I gracioualy thanked then but declined due to not be close to MK for our grandchildren.
I advised them that we would be staying at VWL which we love beyond words. We were given three (3) - 5 day park hopper w/ water parks & more passes for the inconvenience with our future stay.....Since DW and I are PAP holders, this is a great (frankly) blessing that we were not counting on.
It is all a matter of choice on what all of us would or would not do that is and needs to be based on your families interests, priorities etc.
For us, we do not feel that having to go to the main pool and seeing walls up around the DVC pool, even with the other closures is enough to move us out of this incredible resort we call our 2nd home.
The complimentary offer was very kind and we appreciated the call, the offers to move and the final result. We feel, the vacation is what you truly make of it and for us, this will not dampen our spirits or our desire to make the very best of it despite some circumstances that are not 100%.

This is different from my information in this way. If you ALREADY had a deal (FD in my case) then the $100/night/room is permitted on top of it BUT there are NO further changes permitted or the offer is null and void. Just making the point so everyone has all information! Isn't it crazy how hard we are all working to keep this straight and take care of everyone! I think that makes us pretty magical!

That was what I was told as well. I was able to move to AKL for a free upgrade that amounts to about $450 savings, on top of FD, but I can't make any more changes including a change of length of stay or I will be back at rack rate for the AKL room. For what it's worth I only booked this room in June.

Anyone know what number to call for guest services? I have a DVC studio rented as of now, and was hoping to sort this out before there isnt room anywhere to move us. My DVC person who booked us called and they said no moving until 7 months out. I am now scared to wait that long and chance nothing being available. She suggested I call myself. For those who rented, did you call or did the owner call? My owner friend did call for me but they offered nothing... do I wait until the 7 month mark? and try to be patient?

Only the owner can speak to Member Services at DVC.

yes she called for me already and was told we had to wait until the 7 month mark... she also suggested that I call myself seeing as people who have rented points have been contacted directly too.

I knew my TA as a friend before we did business. That is helpful I suppose. The other question is WHEN you made your reservation - that seems to have an effect on the results you get. I can't remember your actual story so this is rather vague on my part.

It may have been based on when you had reserved originally. If you did so prior to the announcement, then there seems to be more leeway but it is all being done on a case-by-case basis. Definitely count it as Disney magic and enjoy!

Yes, the third person I spoke to said they could do it because my reservation was made prior to July.

If people are being moved to other resorts and rooms are going to be closed off for the upcoming construction...does this mean less crowded pools? I've never been to WL (never been to any on-site WDW resorts, really) but was looking forward to just soaking in hot tubs and relaxing on my resort/DTD days. Er, you know, after construction hours when it gets quieter.

Actual official announcement was made July 10. Hope you do have some results soon.

After my owner called DVC Member Services and was told they weren't moving anyone I called (and waited for an hour calling through the regular Disney line along with the CM who waited with me) and talked to Guest Experiences (Guest Experience Services). I told them that DVC Member Services hadn't been helpful and gave them my owner's phone number. They called him back immediately. His later email said they were going to try and track down the DVC Member Services CM that hadn't been helpful earlier in the day. They are *not* going to talk to you, only the owner.

But they were much more helpful than DVC Member Services, at least for us. I haven't seen a direct number to call.

I ended up staying put at VWL (2 nights in Dec after Kidani) in our 1 BR as I wanted to stay in MK area and was offered Kidani, SSR, and BC. I did get 2 days of 3 unrestricted FPs for my group. Make sure you give your owner a list in order of which resorts you'd be fine moving to ahead of time. I did add if resort choice wasn't available that some unrestricted FPs would be nice.

hi momtwoboys, I just saw on another thread that you aren't booked until April. I think with others on that thread that they won't be offering upgrade/resort moves for that far out. There's plenty of time to look for something else now or to wait until the 7 month mark and move. I'm sorry you're in your situation but hope your owner will be willing to work with you to find another resort option if you decide not to stay at VWL. Perhaps the construction noise on the villa side won't be so bad then if they're done jack hammering up the quiet pool and felling trees and outside cabin work.

thanks! not going to risk our last family of 4 vacation before our oldest graduates at a resort that is ripped up was hoping to be able to move before the 7 month mark since others who are possibly booking after this announcement wont be choosing WLV. We will be upset if there are not options left. sorry for venting.

Just for clarification - can renters not talk to guest services at all? I saw on one thread that renters could talk to guest services about compensation (like memory maker and fast passes) but only the owners could talk to them about switching resorts?

I did get 2 days of 3 unrestricted FPs for my group.

Someone on the DVC forum thread said that they had to tell guest services by phone which park on which day for the unrestricted FPs to show up in their MDE. Is that the same situation for you?

Guest Experience Services was polite but said right away they wouldn't talk to me, which was fine as my owner knew what I wanted. I actually was hoping to switch resorts. Perhaps because I didn't talk to them and my owner didn't know my itinerary my FPs are in MDE for two set days (they chose my check in and next day and not my check out luckily as we're leaving for the airport by 9a!) but not restricted to one park. They say "Select Up to 3 Experiences at Any Park" and list each park and the possible FPs that can be booked. As someone mentioned no parades or fireworks.
