Thanks, I'm pretty excited. GF has never been a blip on my radar because even with a room discount, I'd never pay that amount to stay there. Even though I'm sad about not spending Thanksgiving at VWL (and we've never stayed at this resort either), I will definitely be able to pull off staying there again in the future -- this won't ever happen again with GF.

My owner asked me to try calling the WL front desk - he was on hold with Small World playing for 19 minutes this morning waiting for DVC member services. Front desk told me that they were only moving the cash reservations and that DVC member services were doing the DVC ones. They offered to transfer me to the DVC line but I know they won't talk to me as a renter. Mailed the info to my owner.

For what it's worth, I love AKL and AKV and we're actually doing a split stay at AKV for the first part of this trip. But the last days we're concentrating on MK including evening EMH so want to be in that area.

Has anyone who rented points through David's had any contact with them regarding the construction? Or maybe even someone renting out their points through David's? I've tried contacting them a few times since Friday but haven't been able to reach them and they haven't returned my emails yet.

For what they are charging you for being the "middle man" I find that to be totally unacceptable! They could have at least written back that they are looking into it, even if just to acknowledge your email to them.

Hope you get some answers soon.

WL rooms are being given $100 per nt credit or allowed to switch resorts at cost?

VWL rooms are being switched to regular rooms @ GF, BC, etc..some even to suites at no additional cost?


* assuming this is based on your trip already being in the system PRIOR to the construction announcement...

You can add one more. If reservation through TA, they are being switched to GF-LV if going around Thanksgiving and BC if going around Christmas at no extra cost.

My choice is $100 off per night (x 3 nights) or we can switch (I asked for AKL), but it's at full cost.

We're staying CL for our 20th, so the cost OOP I'd say is quite a bit more than those renting points (who are ultimately getting upgraded to some stellar resorts & CL suites).

I think the reason they are moving the DVC folks at no cost is because the DVC rooms will be MOST effected, while those inside the Lodge will be LEAST effected.

I would certainly call again. If you have a trip scheduled October 25 or later and it wasn't one of the "magical deal" things, I'd find it odd for the story to change.

yes, my reservation is for Dec 11-15. It was actually the second time I had called. Saturday and then today. Both days I was not offered a room discount only Memory maker or switching resort. Today I pushed it more but kept getting the same answer, 'sorry ma'am...' I didn't really want to switch resorts. So I don't know now...

For what it is worth, as a DVC member, I will be staying at our home resort, VWL in a 2 Bdrm from 10/30 - 11/9. I did receive a personal phone call from Disney Guest Services advising me of the upcoming construction. I was told about Hidden Springs Pool, the nature trail inaccessability, the boat rentals/ dock closed, bike rentals and noise from 9am - 7pm, sometimes will be loud.
I asked if I could be transferred to a different DVC resort, I would also be willing to do a split stay. While I was on the phone, Disney Gueast Services contacted DVC and the only availability would be at SSR with a 24 point savings that would be credited back to my account. I gracioualy thanked then but declined due to not be close to MK for our grandchildren.
I advised them that we would be staying at VWL which we love beyond words. We were given three (3) - 5 day park hopper w/ water parks & more passes for the inconvenience with our future stay.....Since DW and I are PAP holders, this is a great (frankly) blessing that we were not counting on.
It is all a matter of choice on what all of us would or would not do that is and needs to be based on your families interests, priorities etc.
For us, we do not feel that having to go to the main pool and seeing walls up around the DVC pool, even with the other closures is enough to move us out of this incredible resort we call our 2nd home.
The complimentary offer was very kind and we appreciated the call, the offers to move and the final result. We feel, the vacation is what you truly make of it and for us, this will not dampen our spirits or our desire to make the very best of it despite some circumstances that are not 100%.

Make sure you are talking to Guest Services and not the regular reservations people. Also you can request a supervisor or someone with more authority than the person to whom you are speaking. Being super polite and super reasonable also help. I am assuming your reservation was made prior to the announcement of the project and that you don't have a deeply discounted rate already in place. I have FD and was given the discount. Switching was not an option because we have multiple rooms which could not be accommodated.

Hi Joanne,
Ours is still getting sorted. They have switched us but have also added £3000 EXTRA to the bill. I will let you know when it gets sorted. Also my dates are end of October to beginning on Nov.

Goodness me, that's ridiculous! Especially when you look at all the posts on here that people are being upgraded for free. It shouldn't matter whether you are from the US or UK. We booked a year ago!

All sorted now. Moved to AKL for same amount as WL.
I know what you mean we booked last April 2014 for this October. We also booked next Oct April 2015.

Ok, Im a little nervous now, please any advice or help would be muchly appreciated!!

I have booked a week in Wilderness Lodge next September 25th 2016 as we are planning to get married there! Since booking it, WL has been removed from the wedding site, after a call they said it would be returning at some point, but now seeing all this construction info im not so sure if it will be returning soon. Also if i tried to book the same weeks stay on there site now, Wilderness Lodge is not an option!!
It would be our first time staying on WDW site, and obviously we want something special as we are getting married, but now im thinking am i best moving everything?? Or waiting and sticking it out? If we moved resorts id move to AKL, the price we paid for standard room in WL is the same as club level at AKL so we would book that room, then its just finding another option of where to get married! But im not sure i like the other options on the memories collection. HELP!!
