Borrowing question

We are planning a Grand Gathering of sorts in Dec and will have to use all of our 2005 points, and borrow almost all of our 2006 points.

The people we are going with are a little wishy-washy (but we love them anyway!). They are not able to get prices on flights to FL from CA yet, all sights say it's too far out to schedule. I am wondering what would happen if they decide that it's too costly to go, and we have already borrowed?

I know that you can't bank borrowed points, but can you then use 2006 points, and bank 2005??

Our family is going to go in Dec, so we would use a year's worth of points, but we don't want to lose a whole years worth.

I am going to start calling tomorrow to book ressies, so any info in appreciated. (I was going to call MS to ask them, but I am sure it is busy!!)

If you are using 2005 points to book one room and borrowed 2006 points to book another, then yes, you could cancel the reservation with the '05 points and bank them into '06. Just make sure you cancel and bank before your 100% banking deadline, which is six months after the start of your Use Year.
