How would this work.

we are looking at buying 210 points and taking the Dollar Dream Incentive Credit and have an April UY which means that we get no points for April 2007 until March 30, 2008 that i get.

what if we want to book a trip at the end of April 2008 which we would have to book by October 2007 - we worked our points to be 230.

so in october we would have to borrow 210 points from our April 2008 allotment but what about the 20 that we need? will they wait for "payment" until we get our 2008 April points then deduct the 20 from 2008 points or do we have to rent points or go for less days?

does that makes sense or have i confused everyone

With an April Use Year:

Your 2008 points can be used for stays from Apr 1, 2008 - Mar 30, 2009
Your 2009 points can be used for stays from Apr 1, 2009 - Mar 30, 2010
Your 2010 points can be used for stays from Apr 1, 2010 - Mar 30, 2011
etc.

If you want to book a stay in April 2008, that falls within your 2008 UY so you would use your 210 2008-UY points for that stay. Since you need 20 points more than your annual allotment, you could borrow 20 points from your 2009 UY. You would borrow those 20 points at the time you make the reservation because you must have enough points to cover the entire reservation available in the same UY as your trip dates.

oh ok - so it doesn't matter that you don't have any points in the UY that you book as long as when you are staying you would have those points.

Exactly! You have to have enough points available in the same UY as your trip dates.

That's a common misconception with new members. If you look at your account online, points up to 2009 are already posted in your account to use based on your date of stay. They are not "deposited" when your use year starts, they are already there.
