Borrowed Points for 2019 now back in 2019

Hello all,

I was pleasantly surprised to find that points we borrowed in 2019 for a trip in 2018 have now been placed back into 2019 when I cancelled that reservation and we booked a new one. We used VGF points from 2019 to book a portion of our vacation in April to ensure we could hold the standard view VGF studio at the 11 month mark....the remaining 4 days we had booked at BCV using our BCV points. When we reached the 7 month window there were partial days available for a standard view studio but DVC had all the days available with a lake view studio at VGF. We cancelled both the 3 days at VGF and 4 days at BCV studio and booked a lake view studio at VGF for 7 days which costs us an additional 30 points.

I expected the 25 points we borrowed from 2019 to stay in 2018 but to my surprise they went back to the 2019 year. We will probably use the points in 2018 anyway with a Fall trip but I like the flexibility we now have to bank the points to 2020 if we need to.

I thought any borrowed points transfers were final. Nice to see they went back to where they started when we cancelled our reservation and booked the new one.

Yes, borrowing is a final transaction. Looks like you were in the right place at the right time and benefited from what DVC is doing because of IRMA. My guess is that they have a program to do this and aren't necessarily scrutinizing every case to be sure it is IRMA-related. Lucky you!

I agree with Carol. I think you got the benefit of the adjustments they are doing for Irma! So glad it worked out for you!!!

I tend to think it's a glitch that a few have reported experiencing. Any other fixes for Irma are being done manually.
