This is totally disgusting! God will call them to account! The Bible tells us in Revelations as well as other places we are not to alter the word of God. God's word is sacred and not to be tampered with or mocked!
Really? Which translation does he prefer?

Did you read the article God's Holy Word Desecrated by Liberals? My comments pertain to that not whether you are using King James or the Riv version of the Bible. Revelations 22:18-19 says: For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. This article rewrote and renamed people and phrases in Bible. P116 still has a copy of the article.

Got this prayer in my email today and thought I would share it.

The Best Prayer I Have Heard In A Long Time...

Let us be slow to judge
and quick to forgive,
show patience,
empathy and
love.

How true this is! I think I'm going to put this on my wall at work (I have a wall where I put up motivational passages, etc.). Thanks for posting!

As far as the last two posts, I think the point is not to alter the meaning of the words. The "translations" in question clearly do so. Now we can quibble over which English translation is better, but there is a line of syntax and etymology which has been clearly crossed by these works. At some point, at least in my opinion, the Word ceases to be the Word, and just becomes a book. That point comes when the meaning of the word, in its original Koine Greek, Hebrew, and maybe Chaldee or Arabic grammer, syntax, and context, becomes lost in the translation.

Hey everyone. Just got back from an interesting weekend with my family. That prayer was great last page. Funny, how my family was just talking about how they can't stand slow cashiers, bad customer service, etc.. and I was tellling them to have patience and compassion, as they are people too, and you don't know what is going on in their lives. They (especially my brother) have no patience with people, and I can't stand that. You need to be compassionate and loving to everyone. I am going to go send that prayer to them now!!!

This weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving, and was nice to reflect on what we are thankful for! :goodvibes

Welcome Back!
God's timing is always perfect...
Happy Thanksgiving!!
P.S. What do Canadians "do" to celebrate the holiday?

Probably the same as the Americans!
We eat lots of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, buns, corn, yams/sweet potatoes, cranberries, pumpkin and apple pie and more!!
We went around the table and said what we are thankful for. Such a variety of things from 20 people from ages 2-60!! (skateboards, cousins, family, health, freedom of religion, music, etc...) :flower:
We decorate with pumpkins, fall decorations, turkeys, etc...

But-we don't all start our Christmas shopping the next day!! I understand that is what Americans do? That the day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year??

Happy Thanksgiving, Albertan Mom! Yep, they call it Black Friday. The day after Thanksgiving is crazy here. Many of the stores run what they call “door buster” sales that begin at crazy hours like 6:00 am. People will line up outside the doors waiting to get the great deals. If you’re willing to do it, you really can get some good deals, especially on electronics.

Hi everyone! Hope you all are doing well. Have just been reflecting on our pastors message Sunday night, I can't recall what scripture passage we were reading,(that is so bad :guilty: ) somehing by Paul when he was in prison, but it was a really good message. Oh, now I remember, it was the text about how Paul was in prison and the jailer and his family ended up getting saved through Paul's testimony, example. He was about how sometimes we get discouraged with where we are and think "God, why do you have me here?" or we wonder why so and so seems to get all the breaks and we seem to face so many trials. He talked about how there are several missionary families who have been called out of our church who are ministering in the Dominican, UK, Guam, Brazil, etc. and how they are such powerful preachers etc. and how it would be easy for them to pastor big churches here. And how sometimes it would be easy to think, "if I were God, I'd put so and so here and they would be ministering to so many, etc." But that isn't where God has called them, He has called them (and us) and placed them were they would have the most impact and give the most glory to Him.

He talked to the teens about how God has them in their school, at this time for a reason, how we adults are working at our particular job for that particular reason. Called the congregation to account for sharing their hope, their salvation and not just grumbling through life thinking we are going nowhere. We each have been given our own mission field right in our daily life!

This will be my third Black Friday in a row. i actually really enjoy it and we've saved a lot of money over the last two years on specific items. Rampant materialism, I know, but it has been good to our wallet.

Liv4Christ.....love that scripture. God is so good to give us, and especially our youth, such great examples in His Word.

Thanks for the interesting info, Albertan mom.
It made me chuckle to read how Canadians
eat the same "feast" we Americans do,
and we eat it supposedly because of the
first Thanksgiving with the Native Americans... Hmmm.....
Sorry, it just gave me a chuckle!

And yes, Black Friday can be INSANE!!

There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things "in order," she contacted her pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.

Everything was in order and the pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. "There's one more thing," she said excitedly.

"What's that?" came the pastor's reply.

"This is very important," the young woman continued.
"I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand."

The pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say.

"That surprises you, doesn't it?" the young woman asked.

"Well, to be honest, I'm puzzled by the request," said the pastor.

The young woman explained. "My grandmother once told me this story, and from there on out, I have always done so. I have also, always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement.

'In all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, 'Keep your fork' It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming ... like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!' So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder "What's with the fork?". Then I want you to tell them: "Keep your fork ... the best is yet to come." The pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye.

He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did.
She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming.

At the funeral people were walking by the young woman's casket and they saw the pretty dress she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand. Over and over, the pastor heard the question "What's with the fork?" And over and over he smiled.
During his message, the pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her.

The pastor told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either.

He was right.

So the next time you reach down for your fork, let it remind you ever so gently, that the best is yet to come.

We walked away, thankfully! The Lord is good even in the bad things that happen in life. Right now we probably need to start looking for a vehicle. Our budget isn't really capable of taking on a car payment so we are praying that if the insurance totals the explorer that we will be able to find a good car for what we get from it. Thanks so much to each of you!

So sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad to hear that you and your son are both okay. Praise the Lord! I'll be praying for you guys and your search for an affordable SAFE car! Sounds like your Explorer really was a shield for your family.

Our church is having a Fall Festival. They are doing a costume contest for best Christian based costume.

Any ideas?

3 boys, ages 5, 10 and 12. Would be cute if they could go as something related.

Shadraq, Meshach, and Abendego from the fiery furnace. You could do like robes on them and maybe use a little make up to look like soot (not to much cause the Bible says they didn't even smell like smoke)

Praise god you are ok. Will hold you up in my prayers :grouphug: I have seen the fork story before but it always touches my heart.

Hi everyone,
I have not posted in a while but I have been lurking and praying for all of you. This board has such a blessing to follow. I have another prayer request. I just received a phone call that my eldery great-aunt is in intensive care and they do not expect her to make it through the night. She is an amazing woman with the most beautiful Christian spirit. I am not praying for God to heal her b/c I truly believe He is calling her home, she is ready. I pray that my mother and grandmother (GA is her younger sister) can make it through this difficult time. Our family has suffered many great losses in the past two years and I just am not sure that they are strong enough to handle this. I pray that God gives them the strength to make it through.
