I love Extreme Home Makeover, and I love Focus on the Family, so it is great to see them together!! :flower:

Focus on the Family Participates in October 2 Episode
of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Colorado Springs, CO – Focus on the Family will participate in this weekend’s episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, airing Sunday, Oct. 2 on the ABC Television Network.

In addition to its participation in the October 2 episode, Focus hosted the Barrett family yesterday at its Colorado Springs campus for a special visit. The highlight of the day was a meeting with Focus founder and chairman Dr. James Dobson. The Peyton, Colorado family of eight also enjoyed a VIP tour of the Focus on the Family campus, lunch with the staff, a visit with Focus on the Family president and CEO Jim Daly, a trip to the broadcasting studios for a behind-the-scenes look at the popular Adventures in Odyssey children’s radio program, and interviews with the Brio and Breakaway teen magazine staffs.

“There is nothing more rewarding than helping others, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is a great example of this principle in action,” says Jim Daly, President and CEO of Focus on the Family. “We at Focus on the Family are honored to participate in such a worthy cause.”

First, I wanted to send prayers to Elisabeth and Colin. I know how difficult it can be with employment, and sometimes we just have to put our trust in the Lord. It sounds like you guys are doing that, and I pray and believe it will work out for the best.

Second, that is awesome news about Extreme Makeover. It is (by far) my favorite show on TV, and we are always waiting in front of the tube when it comes on. Not only are there occassional glimpses of the World, but it has NEVER left me without a tear. That Focus has gotten involved just makes me believe all the more that it is a great show!

I also love extreme home make over. How nice to see people being blessed because they've been a blessing to others, especially those in our military who insure our freedom.

I have really missed this thread. It saddens me to see it dying! With so many of us under attack we need this more than ever! Today my pastor preached a beautiful and uplifting message from the book of Ephesians on the respect and tenderness God has for his children. He mentioned the following eleven benefits: 1) God has blessed us. 2) God has chosen us. 3) God has
predestinated us. 4) God has accepted us. 5) God has redeemed us. 6) God has forgiven us. 7) God has abounded towards us. 8) God has made known the mystery of HIS will. 9) God has sealed us. 10) God has enlightened us.
11) God gas raised us to sit in heavenly places. HALLELUAH!!!

ead 79 how are you doing? Your still in my prayers! :grouphug:

Thank you all so much for your prayers. They are deeply appreciated. Nothing has happened yet, so we’re still praying for the Lord’s guidance and wisdom. There is still a chance that he could keep his job, and that would be great. He is calling the technology sales company today (they told him to follow up) to check on the status of that position. Who knows—perhaps they are ready to hire him. We’re doing well and are learning to trust Him more each day. He is good!

Hello everyone! We need to get this thread going again! We have been busy here and I have about 10 different plates spinning and I'm trying not to let them fall so I haven't been able to post so much, with working 2 jobs, taking care of 2 kids, being popcorn kernel for our cub scout troop, lining up a ton of show & sale events, following up with my DIA Word of Life girls, and preparing for Jr. Church, it has been crazy!!! Thankfully we only have about 4 more weeks of popcorn.

Dropping in today to ask prayer for DH. He just called from work and said they got bought out today. He works as an alarm technician for a small locally owned installation/monitoring company. He didn't have time to tell me anything but this was a sudden move. None of them had any idea that this was coming so I'm not really sure if it is going to be a good thing or a bad one. I knew if I brought it here you all would pray for the situation. Thanks in advance. DH really likes this job and has been there a little more than a year and has been doing well pay wise. Don't know what this buy out will bring.

In Christ,

Cristy

I will keep you in my prayers :grouphug:

Cristy,

My prayers are with your family during this time of uncertainty. We're in a similar situation with the possibility of DH losing his job, so I know it's tough. God will provide. Please let me know if there is anything at all I can do for you.

Praying for you, Cristy, and also for Elizabeth.

You know, it's true we need to keep this thread
alive but no matter how far it gets buried I always
know it and all of you are here to listen, pray, or rejoice with me!
I think all of us here have resurrected it at least once,
with something we wanted to share (no pun intended there).
I had something happen tonight that was so sweet,
at least to DH and I, that I wanted to tell you.

DS (2 1/2) loves to read - praise the Lord - and 2 of his
favorite books are about Jesus.
One is called, "The Story of Jesus" and the other is
"The Story of Easter."
I have so much fun reading these to him,
and I taught him the hand game, "Here's the church, here's the steeple,
open the doors and see all the people!"
So when we read the Easter Story together when I get to the
page that says churches put a cross on their steeples to remember
what Jesus did for us, I always ask DS "Where's your steeple?"
And he grins and puts his little hands together and shows me his steeple.
This week I've been telling him how to spell 'Jesus'.
It's in nice, big letters on the cover of the one book,
and they highlight it on nearly every page of both books.
I'd just got done reading both of them and DS
had shown me his steeple, when he got all excited and shouted,
"More Jesus! More Jesus!"

That was the first time he ever said "Jesus," so it melted our hearts *sigh*.

Awwwwwwwww....... so sweet.
I love to experience the Lord through my children!! :goodvibes

Prayers said for you and your dh, Cristy! :grouphug:

Aw, that is so sweet, luvthatduke! That reminded me of something and so I thought I would ask it on here. Have any of you ever ordered a personalized children's book from www.alexida.com ? I had a personalized children's book growing up and I loved it. When I say personalized I am talking about one of those books that puts your child's name as one of the characters and lets you add other relatives/friends/pets as characters. Anyway, I am not ordering Kylie one this young but I decided to order one for my nephew who will turn 5 the week before Christmas. They have a broad selection of books to choose from including several about Jesus. I decided to order him one where he would be w/the 3 wiseman when they visit Jesus in the manger. I thought that would be a good one for a Christmas present and he would also appreciate it since he is being raised to believe in God and has an understanding of it. :goodvibes Anyway, my book growing up did not come from alexida and this is the first time I have used them. So I was just wondering if any of you had ordered from them and if they are a reputable company and what you thought of the quality of their books. I decided to take a chance and have already ordered it but it would still be nice if any of you do know anything about them and could give me your opinion. I am hoping they are a good company since I want to order one for Kylie and our 2nd (future) child someday.

Good morning everyone! :wave2:
I know that it has been a while since I posted. I get behind on reading and then get overwhelmed when I get back to the boards and see everything that I need to catch up on reading.
Anyway, I received an encouraging email message this morning from my homeschool group. I wanted to share it with you. I hope it encourages you this morning as it has me.

> But then, so is Jesus

> As our 4-year-old sat down, she had a small red New Testament in one hand
and a pen in the other. I knew she had seen me writing in my Bible so
scolding her wasn't an option. However, I didn't want her scribbling in the
Lord's Word for no good reason.
>
> Getting down to her level, I prayed for quick guidance and began, "Diana,
we don't write in the Bible ."
>
> Carefully choosing my words, I continued, "Unless we want to underline
something that is very important to us."
>
> Diana thought for just a few seconds then quickly replied, "I
know what's important to me - Jesus!" And she began underlining every
"Jesus" on the page.
>
> Dumbstruck, I just sat down on the floor a moment and watched
her little eyes scanning the page and glowing with delight when another
"Jesus" was found.
>
> What a lesson God used my youngest child to remind me of that day. The
most important thing in our lives should be quite simple - Jesus. He is the
only way to heaven; He sacrificed His life for us; He is a model of
perfection, compassion, kindness and patience; He is our hope; and He tells
us to rejoice in our suffering no matter what it entails.
>
> And He longs for our eyes to shine in delight when we speak, read or sing
His name. He longs for many of us to simply remember Him in our daily walk
instead of letting everything else get in the way of what's truly important,
instead of losing faith in the One who cares the most about us.
>
> When bills are past due, your laundry closet overflows and the living room
floor hasn't been seen in a week, we must remember one thing - Him.
>
> When you're confident there's a kitchen counter somewhere under all those
dirty dishes and scattered schoolbooks, remember Him.
>
> When an unexpected visitor drops by on the day you decided to stay in your
pajamas and ignore above-mentioned counter, remember Him.
>
> When you aren't looking and your kindergarteners decide running a
barbershop with each other as its first customers (followed by a dozen
stuffed animals) is a grand idea, remember Him.
>
> When you find a pile of ants in your child's bedroom atop a half-eaten
apple, and hear your third page for a "clean-up in aisle kitchen", at the
same time, remember Him.
>
> When you realize Internet-produced map directions aren't all they are
hyped up to be, and you are once again late, remember Him.
>
> When gas prices climb, hurricanes strike and war continues, please
remember Him.
>
> Just as Diana's eyes lit with delight each time she underlined Jesus'
name, my heart and your heart will spark with delight if we concentrate on
Him instead of focusing on all the negatives.
>
> It's true the negatives are all around us - they always have been and
always will be. But then, so is Jesus.
>
> "And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither
thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land, for I will not leave
thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of," Genesis 28:15.
>
>
> Numbers 6:24-26
> The Lord bless you and keep you;
> The Lord make His face shine upon you;
> And be gracious to you;
> The Lord lift up His countenance upon you;
> And give you peace.

luvthatduke, how precious! Sometimes kids are truly the most profound. May we all cry out, “More Jesus!” Faith like a child indeed.

TLHB70, that is a wonderful reminder—thank you for posting it. It’s so easy to forget Him when things get hectic or hard, but that’s when we need Him most.

Ok, between my post and TLH...'s, I'm LOL at God's timing.
Anyone else reading here today think we've all been
given the same message?

"More Jesus! He's What's Important!" :goodvibes ...

Well, I now need prayers about dh's job! He came home from work this afternoon and told me that his company was just bought out by another company b/c they had been on the verge of going bankrupt apparently. The good news is that as of right now he is in no danger of losing his job. The thing that we aren't sure about is how this is going to affect his benefits and if he will have to work holidays, etc. I am hoping this is a good change though. So basically I am just asking that you all pray that things work out for the best and that his job will continue to be secure. You never know what will eventually happen when a company is bought out! I can't believe this happened right after Elisabeth's and Cristy's post! I have faith that this is going to be a good change though and I hope it is!

Hey Tasha! We'll be praying for you and your DH as well. Looks like the same situation at my DH's job. Doesn't seem to be any concern over losing job, just not sure what changes come with a new owner. Think God is trying to teach us all to trust Him in all things?

Elisabeth, still praying for your DH's job situation as well. Keep us updated.

What wonderful posts as reminders to us each and everyone. It baffles me sometimes at the spiritual truths my kids can teach me unintentionally. :teeth:

It's great to see this thread moving again! Miss chatting with you all each day!

That is a lot of people going through this kind of thing all at once. I think we will all be needing some prayer time.

Things haven't been going all that great for me at work, either....although they seem to have gotten better the last couple of weeks. I will be happy to have this year over though. We are looking at a job change next year!

In the meantime, my prayers to you all :grouphug:

Tasha, I have worked for a couple of companies that have been "bought out". Both times the benefits and stuff were better because the buying company could afford it. Hopefully this will be your husband's case.

I am praying for everyone's situation.

I agree that we need to get this thread rolling again, it has kind of died off. I like it when we get some good discussions going.

Just heard this song on the radio and it was such a blessing to me this morning! Had to share it with everyone!

Drop by the Christian Music thread and sing with us! :sunny:

Twila Paris – DAYS OF ELIJAH
From the album – HE IS EXALTED
Label – Integrity (2005)

These are the days of Elijah declaring the word of the Lord
And these are the days of Your servant Moses
Righteousness being restored
And these are the days of great trials
Of famine and darkness and sword
Still we are the voice in the desert crying
Prepare ye the way of the Lord!

chorus:
Behold He comes, riding on the clouds
Shining like the sun at the trumpet call
Lift your voice, it’s the year of Jubilee
And out of Zion’s hill salvation comes

And these are the days of Ezekiel, the dry bones becoming flesh
And these are the days of Your servant David rebuilding a temple of praise
And these are the days of the harvest
The fields are as white in Your world
And we are the laborers in Your vineyard declaring the Word of the Lord.

chorus

There’s no God like Jehovah!

chorus

We often sing that song in our church. I love it!!

I was at the funeral of a good friends mother-in law yesterday. She died of cancer. Her service was wonderful, with the salvation message. They played the song "I Can Only Imagine" It was spine-tingling, to sit there with your eyes closed, listening to the words of the song, imagining this lady going to see Jesus!

Then that same girl found out that her mother, that has MS, had a bad stroke during the morning of the funeral. This poor girl is going through a lot, and could really use prayer. Her name is RB. I can't imagine, if she loses both her mother and her mother in law in the same week. Please pray for her and her family.

Thanks friends. :goodvibes
