Don't know if this is the appropriate forum for the this question . . .

Where is the nearest Borders store to WDW? The new "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is being released in November while we will be staying at the Beach Club. I'd like to pre-order it (at 41% off!) so I can just run out and pick it up at the nearest Borders one night after the parks. I am not willing to pay full price at DTD. My son will have it completely read on the trip home for sure.

The Borders site has a store finder and I'm guessing one of these two would be close, but I'm not that familiar with the area:

8001 S Orange Blossom Trail

1051 West Sand Lake Road

Thanks in advance!:)

Those stores are fairly close and easy to get to. It looks like one store is just outside the Florida Mall and the other one inside.

Exiting out of Disney, get on I-4 east bound, Take the exit ramp onto 528 (Beachline), Then get off at Orange Blossom Trail. Head north, and the mall will be on your right. It says the 528 is a toll road, but you'll get off before the first toll.

What about Barnes and Noble prices?? There's one even closer to Disney than the Florida Mall.

I just checked B & N, and they are the exact same price (41% off)! I don't usually check them since there is not one locally, but if it's closer to WDW, I'd rather go there. So if you don't mind, SandrA, could you tell me how to get to the nearest B & N?

Thanks again!:)

I don't know about Barnes and Noble but I see that Amazon is doing release day delivery for that book.

Could you just have it delivered to your hotel?

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, I checked it out and the book is on sale for $7.67 . . . but shipping on the release date is $11.98. Yikes! Boo to Amazon.

It's real easy.

From Beach club, get out to the main road and head towards DTD Disney. Go out Hotel Plaza Blvd onto 535. Hang a left and keep going north. It's a good 5 minute drive north, till you reach Sand Lake Rd. Go right, and just a few blocks down is the Barnes and Noble on your right.

You can also go out the Epcot Center Dr exit to get on I-4 and head up to Sand Lake Rd. Then make a left (going west), with Barnes and Noble on your left from there.

I don't think there's much of a time difference in either way. Once you get north of DTD on 535, the traffic thins out and there's only a few lights on the road. The intersection of Sand Lake and OBT (getting to borders), is a major major pain to get through, and so are the roads leading to that intersection. So while it might not be much further away distance, time wise it will be a huge difference.

Thanks, SandrA! I've printed out your directions and put them in my vacation file so I don't forget them by November.

I can always get an answer to any question here! :)
