I am looking for suggestions for a border between our house and the neighbors. They don't take care of their yard like we doand they have a ton of weeds. I would like to make some type of border that would seperate our front yards. I was thinking about a row of small bushes. We will be selling our house in Mar-June of 2007 so we really need the seperation. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We have an island type separation of rock border and mulch. It makes a distinct line from our neighbors. It makes for a great planting area for shrubs too. We now have to replace our fence in the back. Our decks butt up to each other. As much as they would love to have an open area, we'd prefer our privacy.

We used to have mock orange bushes, and those were really good since you were able to trim them into a nice hedge.

Ornamental grasses are a good, fast solution. PLEASE make sure to get clumping and not spreading varieties.

Do you have CC&R's in your area/subdivision. What zone do you live in?

If you plant something like a shrub, make sure that you are impeding on any utility lines.

For a formal look, you could go with boxwood or privet.

Since you're moving in a year, you'll have to buy larger plants to make them look established. Maybe it'd be cheaper to put in a section of picket fence? :confused3
