DH and I watched "Borat" last night. All I can say is, "Huh?" I thought that was the most ******** and unfunny waste of film I've had the misfortune to see in a long time. There was one scene I thought was funny (when he hangs out with the "homeys" and tries to be black), but the rest ranged from boring to embarassing. You can bet there will be a "Borat 2" since I think it did pretty well at the box office, which says a lot about our pop culture :sad2:

Anybody else seen it? What did you think?

I actually thought some parts were really funny but others I couldn't even believe what I was seeing. I will be seeing a borat 2 if there is one that is for sure!

 ******** .... I didn't even notice I had used that since it's a word I often use to describe inanity. Yes, very appropriate to describe this movie. And I usually like stupid, sophmoric movies like this. "Borat" was just vulgar, imho.

Sounds like you and Borat would make geat friends. :cloud9:

Too bad you no like his movie.

Oh, it was definitely vulgar but I'm ashamed to say I laughed really hard at most of it. :lmao: I was in total shock at a few things, but still found Borat funny (and sad at the people around him at the same time, since it was a thinly veiled expose on how racist/homophobic people are when they think nobody important is watching). I'd watch it again, but might have to fast forward through one scene in particular. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

Yes, I know what scene you are talking about. That's about when I decided to press "stop." :goodvibes

Seen it. As a PP mentioned, DH thought it was hilarious.

What's vulgar is your use of the word "********" in that context.

Do you know what the word really means?

re·tard·ed (rĭ-tär'dĭd) Pronunciation Key
adj.

1. Often Offensive Affected with mental retardation.
2. Occurring or developing later than desired or expected; delayed.

Note definition #1 "often offensive"

Yes - the movie was often offensive to me. I am a special educator. I know what the word means. Sorry you disagree with my choice of words. Maybe we can agree on the intent.

I must be an ingrate. I watched it yesterday and thought it was hysterical.:rotfl:

I think it's a movie that you must take very seriously. NOT!:lmao:

I thought it was a hilarious satire, oh and there will not be a sequel.

I guess the OP misses the irony that the character of Borat thought it was an OK word to use as well. Pretty sure there are a couple uses of it early in the movie.

But he was vulgar.

I have to agree with the masses! DH and I LOVED the movie! There's one part that was filmed in one of our local news stations that we just died laughing at!

Did that stuff really make it on the air? I would be dying. :rotfl:

This is disturbing to me. I have two education degrees, one in special also. It seems unprofessional at best to use the word "********" to describe something you found stupid and offensive. At worst, it is insensitive.

DH and I saw it over the weekend and we laughed at some parts but other parts were gross. We kept saying "ugh!ugh!" "that's gross" "yuk"

I'll use the word '********' until the day I die and not care how many people I offend. this country is out of control with political correctness.

Borat has a couple of very deeply disturbing sequences, but that's the point. the movie digs up and exposes true ignorance in this country.
