OK - this is a bit convoluted so bear with me. Last September we booked a four night break at the Disneyland Hotel for April, and got a fairly good advanced booking rate.
Subsequently we decided we'd quite like to upgrade to Castle Club, and discovered the complexities of the Disney booking system. You can't just ring up to change your booking, you have to fax or write and they ring you back. Anyway, it transpired that if we upgraded we'd have to pay the full rack rate on Castle Club and lose the benefit of booking early. The very helpful CM suggested that we turn up and ask to upgrade as the Hotel would only know that we'd booked a room, not the rate, so we'd simply have to the pay the difference between the standard room rack rate and Castle Club (approx £200 saving on upgrading from the special offer).
My questions are (we've got there now):
Has anyone any experience of upgrading on arrival, either paid or unpaid, at DLH or any other of the Disney Hotels?
Do you think in the week following Easter, Castle Club will be full anyway? Would it be worth phoning the hotel direct a few days in advance and does anyone know how many days in advance the bookings are transferred from central reservations to the Hotel's own database?
Cheers
Andy
