I, personally, don't think Disney will change the 2008 dining plan. You know that Disney thought long and hard about the changes before they were announced. I think it is what it is.
That being said, I believe the Dining Plan is still a better deal for our family. Our son was 9 last year and didn't like a lot of the kids menus so I ended up paying out of pocket for a lot of his counter service meals. I used his counter service meal credits for breakfast.
Before deciding to pay for the plan, I, literally, made myself a chart and headed over to
www.allersnet.com to check out the menus and prices.
My chart included:
1) Where we would be on each day;
2) Where we would eat a counter service meal each day;
3) What we would order as a counter service meal;
4) Where we would eat a table service meal each day;
5) What we would order as a table service meal.
I knew that what I had written down was written in stone but it gave me a fairly good idea. When I added everything on the chart, the dining plan would still be a good deal for us. I even factored in the fact that my son would order off the kids' menus for a couple of the table service meals.
Relative to the tips, I don't mind that they have been removed from the plan. I tip according to my service and, if the service isn't worth a 18% tip, I don't have to.
