Planning on booking for August 2017. 2 rooms most likely at POP.

Not thinking dining plan unless free dining happpens to fall during our dates which are flexible aside from very last week.

If we book room only I know we will be charged deposit for room.

If I book room and tickets is it still room only charges?

If book room only and later change to add tix or tix and dining do I risk anything?

We've gone and stayed several times on site but this is the first 2015 when reservation policy changes..

For room only, you are correct that you will pay the first night of the reservation. A package requires a $200 deposit. At POP, your initial layout should be lower for room only.

With room only, you will be charged for the rest of your hotel when you check in. With a package the remainder of the money is due 30 days prior to your arrival.

Changes with a room only can be made up to five days before arrival. Changes for a package prior to 31 days is free. After that, you will likely be hit with change and processing fees.

If you change your mind and switch from a room only to a package, 1) if over 30 days the $200 deposit applies; 2) if 30 or fewer days the full cost of the package must be paid upon changing the reservation.

I'm not clear on your third question. Your question seems to be whether adding tickets automatically makes it a package. You can order tickets without linking them to your reservation to avoid any confusion. You can buy tickets from an authorized seller and maybe save $10-$12 per ticket if they are for four days or more and they will link to MDE with no issues.

If free dining happens when you are there, you will have to have a package. Recent offerings gave people staying at POP the counter service dining plan. They have also required two days tickets recently.

There will likely be room only discounts rates offered at the same time. I would compare the offers based on how you plan to tour the parks.

Hope this helps.

When you book room-only, you must buy tickets (& pay for them) separately, then link them to your resort reservation. No tickets will be on your reservation until you've paid for them, with a room-only. Choose the tickets carefully, as after the initial purchase you won't be able to add days to the tickets until you arrive at WDW.

Thanks! Usually travel with dh and he requires "real food" and is happy with the dining plan so we've done packages.

This trip is with sister and great niece and my kids, thinking in the August heat we wont require dining plan but if its free sure we'll take it. Quick service would work great!

So I wasn't completely sure about all the differences. With room only we could pau it off in advance right?
