I am Gold status and family is silver CC members. I have a question on booking Palo

In the past as long as we were all paid in full I could book them for Palo under my res for a table for four. It isn't allowing it this time. Has something changed with this rule?

Couldn't get a straight answer from DCL

thanks

You can only book the people that are in your room. If there are others in your party (different rooms), you will not be able to add them to your booking, or make one for them until their window opens.

Dumb question, but did you actually try it or just look at it? I was able to do it once my other parties booking window opened, but it didn't LOOK like i'd be able to at first glance. But when I selected myself, then their checkboxes worked too. I did have to wait for their booking window to open though. And I had called DCL before and they said I could book for them outside the window, but the website didn't actually allow it. If it says "not in booking window" next to them, then you can't add them.

Do you have the two reservations linked? I was able to book Palo for both rooms when we were silver and our daughter (in another room) was not.

When was this?

I was able to do the same thing. I am Silver and I was able to make a reservation for 6, including the two cabins traveling with us. But they both have to be paid in full and linked to your reservation. My sister waited four days past my online booking date and her cabin didn't show up on my reservation until she paid. So I had to add her in later. This was on our Dream cruise last October.

This was the case for us. We are Platinum traveling with Silver and first-time DCL cruisers. I had to wait for their booking windows to open to add them to Palo brunch and dinner. By the time our first-timer's window opened, I couldn't get her added to dinner. I figure that we'll just add her once we get on the ship.

Last year, but her cruise was paid in full also.

The change was more recent than that. Now you can only book reservations for those people in your room (at the highest CC level within that room). If you have other rooms with lower CC levels, their names will appear on the reservation page, but will be greyed out until their respective windows open for booking excursions.

I've been told they hold back a number of reservations until embarkation. Go with them to the Palo/Dining desk when you first get on the ship and ask to add them. It will probably work out just fine.

In August I was able to book a reservation at Palo for my mom (who has never sailed before) and my husband and I (Silver CC). I was able to book both dinner and brunch. She is in a separate but connecting cabin, was outside her window for our upcoming November cruise, but had paid in full. She has our kids in her cabin, and our reservations are linked.

Are your kids silver? I'm pretty sure it goes by the highest person in the cabin. Even though kids cant go to Palo, them being in the room open up the room for the silver window.

The cabin designation is based on the highest level person in the cabin--so yes, if a child is gold cruising with a first timer grandparent, the whole cabin will be "gold" for purposes of reservations, invitation to captain's reception, etc.

And yes, about 1/2 of the Palo reservations are never made available on line.

The loophole that allowed people to book early for Palo reservations when their cabins were linked has supposedly been closed. They cannot be booked till THEIR window opens. Book your own reservation. Then, when their window opens, get them a reservation on the same night and as close to your preferred time as possible. After boarding, go to Palo or to the location listed for Palo ressies and ask them to put the reservations together (or add the other party if they didn't get a reservation). It's totally easy.

It was a relatively recent change. You can book for those in your stateroom, but anyone in a different stateroom, even linked, has to wait for their own booking window to open.

Make them for about the same time, and you can consolidate the two reservations when you get onboard.

We are a party of four. one cabin is two people who are both Silver CC and the other cabin has two that are Gold CC. Gold CC's window just opened up a couple days ago and ours (Silver CC) doesn't open up until Oct. 7th. At midnight when their window opened up, our Gold CC buddies booked Palo Brunch and Remy Dinner for two (the two Gold members in their cabin). When done, they immediately called DCL and changed the reservation from 2 to 4, no problem at all. :) I too thought we'd have to wait until we boarded to change the number of people from 2 to 4, or at the very least wait until our Silver window opens up on Oct 7th, but that turned out not to be the case!:wave2:
