Booking outside our home resort beyond 7 months

You can split them into 2 reservation. However, I have heard people report on here that MS has combined reservations when they are identical. So, maybe change the guests on one so they don't match? Then you can try to switch at 7 months or fix guest info and call MS to combine them.
Are you able to update guests online or does that require a call? I couldn't find anything definitive in the FAQ.

I wish this wasn't all so complicated. Oh well!

The lead guest can't be changed without calling but all others can be done online.

Thanks! So do you think it is likely that MS would combine 2 reservations if the primary guest is the same but the second, third, etc. guests are different?

I agree those cabins are too many points and eventually DVC will have to redistribute the points across seasons.

I dunno. We stayed in a cabin for a few nights earlier this month (granted it was the lowest point season). I feel like they set out to create (and accomplished) a very high end product. I won't complain if they decrease, but hopefully I'll have enough points for a day or two in a cabin every other year.

For the first time ever I had them combine reservations together. I had waitlisted a night that filled although at the time it filled they didn't combine so I thought that was safe. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that someone went back and did the combining. Usually I use different names to stop them from doing this - and I did not want them too - have a bunch of family going and I was waiting until everyone was firmly set to update names. The one they combined with is not a room that's going to be used by me. So....this should be fun to straighten out. :headache:

Agreed. Our two nights in a cabin were absolutely spectacular. I would love to build something similar, with more storage for a retirement home. Of course, the lottery would have to come through first.

That back porch and hot tub. Oh my.

I cannot get Copper Creek for the whole Christmas stay I wanted even 11 months out in a 1 bed. Here's why I saw on another forum.
There’s over 36,000 points taken by cabins over a 10 day Xmas period from say, 20/12 to 31/12. That’s roughly equivalent to 120 studios in the same period, and Copper Creek only has 42 studios, plus 36 lockoff which may go to some 2 bed bookers, so max 78. So that even is drastically impacting 1 and 2 beds.
I suggest anyone buying Copper Creek expecting to get any longer stay over Xmas or studios at other times, buy with the expectation of walking.

Yes, Copper Creek books out as fast as almost any other resort, and significantly faster than most of the other resorts. Looking at the Availability of CC rooms helped me to make a decision not to buy there. Which is too bad, since I love the Lodge, and the Lobby. But to me, it isn't worth dealing with the frequent lack of availability.
