How hard is it to get HHI for sometime during the summer at 7 months out? We would like to go next summer if possible. Looking for a 2 bedroom.:dance3:

We had trouble booking a 1 Bedroom at HHI last June and chose Vero Beach instead as it was our backup plan.

It appears that HHI has far more 2 Bedrooms then 1 Bedrooms though.

We plan to try again for next summer right at 7 months and if a 1 Bedroom isn't available again, we plan to try to get a 2 Bedroom.

Simmer months are very difficult at 7 months, that's why we added on twice at HHI for the 11 month summer window. That being said, if you are flexible you can be successful. There are more 2 bedrooms than studios or 1 bedrooms, so you have more success with these; if you use fri/sat nights they are more available because they use many more points so many do sun-thurs; Early June and late August are easier because schools in north get out later in june and other areas go back early in August. Before we had HHI points, I got 3 night in August mid week at 7 months, but only after a very patient CM went week by week to find me 3 nights. You can also waitlist. Call right at 7 month window and be flexible..good luck.....

We just came back 7/9 from our 6th summer vacation there!!!

How tough is spring break/Easter time there at the 7 month mark?

DGC's Spring break was the week before Easter this year. I had tried at 7 months to book them a 2 bedroom, the WL never came through. We just bought HHI points resale. DH and I have been there once and we really want to take the extended family there, so we bought it!

You need to call right at the 7 month mark. Also, if you can be flexible with which days you want, your chances are better. For instance, when I went the first time, they didn't have my choice of days available. Since I was a teacher at the time, I gave them a 6 week window in June or July. I said I would take any five consecutive days within that window. I got the last week available. I loved it and knew I wanted to return (probably in the summer), so I bought points there for the 11 month window. Just booked yesterday for next June! Good luck and enjoy HHI!

Just curious as to how you were able to give them a six week window? I am relatively new to DVC and I thought you could only get ressie at the 7 month window for max 7 days out.

So if you called at the 7 mth window the ressie would be for that day 7mths out plus ressie days (max 7). Or do I not understand correctly? Also, if you make a ressie for 5 days (sunday to thursday) in 1 BR can you make a cash ressie for 1 day (Friday, or Sat) in a STUDIO? Is it considered the same ressie? If it was the same room type, would it be on the same ressie?

Thanks,

Henry

Like so many others in this thread, we tried to get reservations for the last two summers and NOTHING was available - so we bought points on the secondary market at less than 1/2 the price Disney wants for HHI points.

We close back at the beginning of March to beat the deadline for full value points! Yippe! :)

Just this morning we booked our first stay at HHI! A Grand Villa for 5 nights next summer! :goodvibes

Bliss! :)

I tried for a 2 bedroom for August 7-12 at 9:05am at exactly 7 months out and didn't get it. The CM I spoke with told me that there were rooms a second ago but were gone by the time of booking - they had some rooms, but not for all the days that I needed: arrival on Sunday but there were no rooms available for Tuesday :confused3 so we were SOL. Fast forward a week later and I called at exactly 9am and got in for the following week...August 14 - 19. Either that 5 mins made a difference or I got lucky. Some of the southern schools are back in session by August 14 so that might have helped. It's hard, but not impossible. Good luck in your efforts!

Congratulations on your reservation! I'll be testing the waters with our new HHI points pretty soon for a summer family vacation!

I am sorry for not being more clear. That FIRST time I called, I was already inside the 7 month window. That was in (year) 2000. It was popular then and even more so now, considering how the membership has grown.

we are considering adding on to our DCL vacation next July to stay at VB for the first time. Anyone know how difficult this is to do at 7 months out? We would need a 2 br. Anyone know if the ocean view rooms are truly ocean view? We are bit spoiled since we stay on the beach each year in Ocean City and can hear the waves in our living room!

Some OVIR's do face the ocean and some are on the side. Put in a request for the ocean side, but it's not guaranteed.
