Booking FREE DINING w/o Disney Visa - UPDATED - Please don't do this.

I booked a ressie using the Disney Visa code. I used my "flyer mile" credit card for the deposit. When I learned of the potential problem of not using a Dis Visa, I called to let them know that I used a different card. They said they knew, and my ressie didn't have the Dis code, but had the code for those calling in on the 4th or later. They said they were "holding" my ressie until the 4th. I changed it to my Disney Visa, because I didn't want to take a chance with them waiting for the other code.

Why can't a reg MYW package be booked w/out dining...and then call on Tues and add free dining if available? :confused3
I know that the risk of the free dining package being booked up is there, but you at least still have your room....and could possibly change that ressie to AAA discount/seperate tix....and then the room discount would help to off-set the dining cost...most will still save a few hundred depending on family size and eating style. To us, I do not think the volume of food would be much different, but we would take advantage of the TS places or character meals that we have not been able to have in our budget before. So it is more theming and ambiance for us than the food...which I think adds to the overall vacation experience. We'll see what happens for us tomorrow!

I could be wrong but I think there is only a certain slot of rooms available for the free dining and that is why having a room booked wouldn't be just a matter of switrching to the discount. That's what my CM told me when I had to cancel my room at POFQ and re-book with the Disney Visa/Free dining deal.

PS You have to realize that Chase Visa is probably paying Disney a large fee for the extra days since they will make a fortune with the new cardholders. It is a contract. So anyone who does not book with a Disney Visa before the fourth will have an invalid reservation.

I booked last night for mid Sept. We ended up booking Pop. I was amazed to find out for pricing for 2 adults it was only $74 more in total to go from a 6 day to a 7 day. Tickets, hotel, & food included!
Guess which one I booked? :cheer2:

I think it can BUT free dining has to be available for your dates and resort. Take an extreme example, a resort is almost sold out on people reserving on spec, hoping to get free dining. Disney has no reason to offer the discount (FREE) dining for those dates.

Your plan only makes sense if you want to stay in that resort with or without free dining.

  :yay: :yay: I was about to call and put some more money on our trip and thought I would check to see if any discounts were around, I almost fell off the chair when I read that the free dining was around again and for our time peirod!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc We already had the dining package and since we are paying on the Disney Visa I thought I would give it a shot, We were able to change our package got the free dining, kept our same hotel, dates and location!!! :grouphug: We have 11 of us going on the trip, all had the dining package and now are all saving quite a bit of cash!! :thumbsup2

I booked yesterday, am a card holder. Booked Cor Springs.
Very excited about teh deal.

LewisC...thats what I meant, some folks are worried that they might not get the resort of their choice, if that is the main objective, book the pkg anyway, w/ or w/out dining, whatever the preference and then see if available to adjust. If booking a resort based soley on the DDP, then wait 'till tomorrow if not a valid card holder. Also there is the option of getting a resort choice by not doing a pkg at all, maybe AAA discount, which can help towards food budget...and then still having resort of choice. Just having the options is great!
LakeAriel...not looking or booking *illegally*, anyone who is not interested in DDP promo can book a package that is w/wout DDP on any card anytime. This does not make their reservation invalid...it is just not a reservation that is valid for the free DDP Visa Promo. Most do not book this way as they have AAA or some other discount, AP etc. my point is for those who are getting concerned over the resort they REALLY want...seems to be the MOD's...that they can book a pkg and see if they can then add dining, they at least have their resort and are just like everyone else tomorrow if choosing to add DDP for free.
