Booking expiring pts at end of UY

Question: If my use year is Dec and my banked pts expire 12/1, can I make a ressie that begins in Nov and ends past the points expiration date on 12/01?

For example- 11/26 - 12/02.

No. If you have a vacation that spans over your use year month, then you must use points from two separate use years.

With a December UY, if you wanted to make a vacation for example Nov 26 - Dec 2nd, you would have to use 2005 points for Nov 26-Nov 30, and use 2006 points for the Dec 1-Dec 2 dates.

You could not use any of your 2004 points that you banked into 2005 for any of the December days.

Thank you Caskbill-now that brings on a new question. Can I borrow banked points back into their oringal use year? ex bank 05 pts to dec 06-then decide to take a trip in nov 06-use those banked 05 points for nov 06?

No, you can't take banked points back into their original UY.

No, both banking and borrowing are final transactions -- once banked/borrowed, those points cannot be put back into their original Use Year. If you didn't have enough points in your '05 UY to cover the Nov '06 trip you could borrow '06 UY points into your '05 UY. But be aware if you do that, those points would expire on Nov 30, '06 so if for any reason you had to cancel your November trip, you would have to find some other way to use those points before they expired on 11/30/06.

Their 2005 banked points, the way I read it, were 2004 points banked into 2005. These are the points that will expire. Dec would be in their 2006 UY so they could not use those points.

Thanks to all who responded. Bottom line it seems is that banked points must be used in the 12 month period following your use year - not before, after, or overlapping.
