Booking AP rates at Disneyland Hotel but checking in with a voucher?

We're driving, so parking (and saving time) is the main issue here. Will they allow me to check in and receive parking passes and room keys before I redeem my voucher for the actual AP? When I made reservations earlier the CM said it SHOULD be okay, but I hate that word. Should is not a good answer to me! LOL I figured I'd ask here before I call the hotel ten more times for verification. Haha.

If I absolutely have to have the AP in my hand before checking in I'll just park at Downtown Disney, pop over to the ticket booths for the AP, and then head to the hotel. But it'd be a shame to waste all of that time if it's not necessary. Same goes for going into the hotel with the voucher if they'll just turn me away! Like everyone else here, I like have a plan in place ahead of time.

In May we stayed at the DLH. We showed our voucher at check-in, told the CM we would like to put our luggage in our room and would be heading to the parks to activate our AP's. There was no problem. There are a number of posters here on the dis that have reported it works fine for them. Don't worry.

If you get a difficult CM at check-in (which I highly doubt) just politely ask for a manager. Explain that you are from out of town/out of state, just arrived with your car and luggage and it would be inconvenient to try to activate them before check-in.

Yes...you can book and check in under the AP rate with out actually having an AP...I did a trip where my AP lapsed, checked in, then went to the park to get my new AP. Front desk told me that I just had to show it to them the day before I checked out at the latest and the rate would be honored.
