visiting dwd in on dec.1,2010. should i book airfare now? flying out of logan or machester. any good deals out there. does AAA get a better rate?

Hi and :welcome: to the DIS!

Checking airfare prices is like investing in the stock market! Sometimes you look really smart by waiting, and sometimes, well...not so smart. Sometimes the price will go up, and sometimes it will go down.

Are you a gambler? My opinion is: if you are comfortable with the price now you should book it.

I fly out 11/27 and return 12/4 - I booked mine several weeks ago at $192.00 round trip.

It has fluctuated the last several weeks between $275.00 and $235.00; so I wouldn't wait too long.

Both of my flights out of BWI are about 75% booked.

We are going in August and I booked our airfare in February. I was able to snag 140.00 including taxes and fees round trip from Chicago to MCO on Delta. In my experience, the earlier the better. I figure if I can find round trip between 150.00 and 175.00, go ahead and book. Anything lower than that is just icing on the cake!!!

are these nonstp flights i cant find anythin under 350.00 round trip

Mine were not nonstop but for $140.00 per person RT including taxes and fees, it was worth it. We only have one lay over and it is only for 1 hour. I will still arrive at MCO 10 a.m.

One more thing, I don't know how big the airport is you are flying out of but if you don't mind driving a couple hours to a bigger airport, the prices drop significantly. I live by a small airport and the tickets have not dropped below $300.00 but for a 2 hour drive to Chicago, I am paying half that price.

I booked my Dec 6 flights quite awhile ago....the first day or so that Jetblue opened that time frame. Book as soon as you see an airfare you can live with....notice I didn't say 'happy with' but 'can live with'.

are you flying out logan? I love jet blue? i want nonstop because of the children?

Mine were both non-stop.

Here's a hint that I found. I booked my flights on a Wednesday morning around 6:00 am; it seems they fall the lowest very early in the morning and go up a bit in the afternoon.

They seem most expensive on Friday through Monday, since it is the time when most families are planning their vacations.

I booked mine at 6:00 am, and when I went back to check it at lunchtime, it had gone up $30.00.

Try it out!

Missytara ~ I never knew this; thanks for the tip. :thumbsup2 I'll have to try it out. We are flying out of BWI on 11/28 and booked that leg of our trip with SW, but haven't booked our return flight on 12/5. I'm actually leaning towards flying Airtran, but I can't get my DH convinced to fly them. SW has since raised the price on the return flight so I am trying to wait patiently. :rolleyes1 I should've just booked the return flight when I booked the other leg but didn't. Live and learn I guess.

I booked our flights when AirTran first released their flights and flights had their initial drop for our Dec trip. We paid $222 round trip, non-stop.

Oh my gosh! You are leaving the day after me and coming back the day after me. That is too cool. I am leaving at 7:00 am and paid $99.00 going down and returning at 5:30 pm and got $59.00 coming back.

I am so glad you could use the tip. Check it out, it is amazing how it works. But it took me a while to figure out why.

I can tell you that I have checked Southwest a few times and they are still higher than what I booked for Airtran, even including the baggage fees both ways.

I can say I have flow Airtran several times out of BWI and they have never changed their schedule or cancelled my flight.

I wanted to add - in regards to the AAA discount question - our local AAA office offers no discounts for airfare - they actually try to get customers to book their own since they get no commission or perks from booking it for you. I think most AAA offices are independently owned though, so your area may be different.

yikes....looks to me like airfare for late Nov-mid dec. is HIGH this year, tho I usually traveled in January in the past, this year we're going on Dec 11.....def. higher fares. 89.00 down,144.00 back:scared1:
that's using sw down and JB back- I booked already and prices are still rising. Figured I could live with it,but I don't love it.....;)
IMHO, for this time period booking early is a good idea. And why not Airtran? I've used them frequently out of White Plains, and love them!!!
If your DH is like my DH....you need to 'help' him make a decision soon:thumbsup2

We're flying out of BOS on Delta - nonstop - Roudtrip $197. This is for October, but the flight schedule and prices are similar for Dec

What is your return date?

It's so hard to know when to book flights. I kept checking the prices from Ohare to Orlando for mid November. It was at $188 which I thought was a pretty good price. Round trip, no stops. I kept checking for a few days and it dropped to $158. Was ready to book 7 tickets when I thought just for the heck of it I'd check my Entertainment Book and see if there's any deals there. There was a coupon for $20 off each ticket. Wound up paying $138 per ticket. I was thrilled with that! Then next day price was back up to $188. Just checked now after reading this thread and it's at $197. I don't know if the flights could drop as it gets closer to November but I don't think I'd find 7 seats all together if it got real close to departure day.

I'd watch the flights and once it drops try to find a coupon code and then book it. At least then you'll feel like you didn't pay full price. I always have to feel like I got some kind of deal. LOL!

what airlines was the coupon good for? just wondering if I should purchase a book for the coupon:goodvibes

Can the coupon code be reused?

TIA

We always use AirTran and love it. I usually get a nonstop R/T flight from MI to MCO for about $170. I book way early and do the web only offer, which sells out pretty fast. We go to Disney at the beginning of March, and I noticed they have dates through Feb right now. Usually I book in the fall before we go in March. How do you know when the fares come out?

will be returning to mass on12/8/10. cheapest tix so far are around 300. ns roundtrip. that is out of manchester with southwest where does one find coupon codes for airlines sorry im a nubie 1st trip to disney
