booked first trip home yesterday, messed up points

Help please.

I booked my first trip home yesterday, BWV Nov10-17/07.

I have a AugUY.
150 points from /06 that I had banked.
I used these, all 150 /07 points, and borrowed 23 points from 08(I booked a 2bdrm SV, and a studio SV for friends).

Today I was sick of the grey weather here, and decided to call and see if I could get anything for March break(March 1-16) 07. SSR and OKW were available, but they tell me I can't borrow points for this as I am still technically booking in the 2006 UY.
If I had booked this trip first using my banked /06 points, I guess I then could have used the remaining 06,07 and borrowed more points from 08 for the Nov. trip.
If I now cancel the Nov. trip, and do the above,I guess I am still SOL as the remaining 06 banked points would then have to be used by the end of July 07? Is that right?
That's what I get for not planning one day ahead I guess.

Not quite accurate, but the net effect is correct... when you banked '06 points, they "became" '07 points, and cannot be borrowed back into their original use year. However, you could have scheduled a March '07 trip first, by borrowing original (August) '07 points. Then using all of your banked 2006 points, remaining 2007 points, and more borrowed from 2008, your November 2007 stay could be booked. If you cancel the November trip, I think you could still pull this off - provided there are still the desired units available to reschedule November, after booking March. The points you have already borrowed from 2008, cannot be returned to that use year.

I'm surprised that the CM didn't suggest that you cancel one or both Nov. rooms and book the March dates, then re-book the Nov. rooms. Call and ask what availability is for re-booking your Nov. rooms. You would just need to be sure that you use the 150 2007 points for the March room, since the banked points and the 2008 aren't usable for the March dates. Good luck!

Would I need to use all the 2007 points for the March booking? I only need 55 for what I want then. Would they let me use the remainder towards the Nov. trip, since they won't be used by the end of July 2007?

If you need to borrow 55 points from your 8/07 Use Year - I'd call MS and let them know what you are wanting to do - then cancel enough of your November trip to free up the 55 points (from the 2007 use Year) and reserve the March,2007 trip. Then rebook the cancelled part of the November trip using borrowed 2008 points.

Be aware, however, that you will need to cancel part of your November trip and if there is already a waitlist you won't be able to rebook that automatically. I'd verify that with MS first before doing anything - but you should think thru what you want to do if there is a waitlist. (Personally, I'd cancel the 55 points - reserve the March trip and waitlist for any days not available tomorrow - BUT I suspect you'll be able to pull this off without the waitlist anyway.)

That sounds like a great idea. Since I booked the Nov. trip the day the 11month window opened, there hopefully will still be rooms left, or probably the waitlist will come through if not.
Now all I have to do is convince DH that I did hear him when he said we would go once a year, I though he said twice a year, really I did.

Good luck sorting it all out. We had some "holding" points that I thought I was going to end up losing at one point, but the CM was wonderful and looked over my existing ressies plus the one I wanted to add and told me what day to call back to get the ressie and also to tell the CM that I talked to that day that I needed to "reallocate" my points which would basically let me shuffle around holding, banked and borrowed points.

If you haven't already, definitely make a call back to MS and see if they can help you shuffle things around. Good luck with it.
