Book to read on cruise

Thread Drift: a few cruises ago we booked a 6D cruise. I packed 2 books because I couldn't imagine what I was gonna do with all that time. Well, I ended up playing Pet Rescue on my cell the whole time and DH banned me from packing books, taking up valuable luggage real estate. LOL :duck:

My suggestion is a feel-good book, without too many characters or a complicated plot. You're on vacation, darn it, you shouldn't have to work too hard. If the book is about a voyage, even better. I plan to re-read "Hail Mary" by Andy Weir on our trip starting Friday.

Travelling on Titanic: with Father Browne
The Poseidon Adventure
Moby Dick
Robinson Crusoe

are a few titles that come to mind :)

Along these lines, I have Michael Crichton's Pirate Latitudes for my next cruise. The reviews aren't the best, but it seemed like it would be a fun read on a cruise, and his books are always super casual easy reads, which can be fun when trying to relax.

Treasure Island is a classic that fits this theme too. I still enjoy it as an adult.

I am on a WWll historical fiction kick right now.

I'm also a reader of WWII fiction. Here are some of my favorites-
1. "Sons and Soldiers", Henderson
2. "The Tattooist of Auschwitz", Morris
3. "We Were the Lucky Ones", Hunter
4. "The Auschwitz Photographer", Crippa
5. "The Boy at the Top of the Mountain", Boyne

and you've got to read the book about the Ritchie Boys. There's also a great interview about them on Youtube, that I think was originally taken from 60 Minutes' interview with them. Fascinating!
There's a long thread on the Community Board of books some of us have read. I've posted lots more WWII books on there, and would be happy to add more here, if you'd like.
