City of Bones and City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare are awesome. They're phenomenal and I'm counting the days until City of Glass comes out.

The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I liked this much more than Twilight.

Click is wonderful. It changed my point of view on the world a little bit. It's a great book written by 10 different authors that all tell one story from interconnecting points of view. All proceeds go to Amnesty International.

Abarat and Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War by Clive Barker (think Stephen King only British).

Anything by Stephen King, but The Dead Zone is my favourite, followed closely by Cell. Coincidentally, he was behind me at the grocery store today.

Close Range by Annie Proulx. It's a collection of short stories including Brokeback Mountain (the only book and movie to ever make me cry).

The Gemma Doyle Trilogy (A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing) are great Victorian era magic and romance novels by Libba Bray.

The House of Night Series (Marked, Betrayed, Chosen) by P.C. and Kristin Cast are a romance/vampyre series by a mother/daughter team of authors.

That's my list.

I really love the Blue is for magic series. It's kind of mystery esque but not really. It's got a lot of weird witchcraft magic-ish I love it.

ooooooo The Lovely Bones is AMAZING!! it's so good.

the Both sides of time series is really good too. It's time traveling but not scifi at all.

HOLY CRAP!! I thought nobody else read that!!??? Well I totally reccomend that series! It really makes you think!

I also like a series called Vampire Kisses. It's actually nothing like Twilight but yet at the same time I loved both of the books.....

snowflower and the secret fan is a beautiful story that i read and then shared the book with my best friend. it's a really good friend book that we both loved.

Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks was really good, but I think the movie is going to ruin it (HATE HATE HATE Richard Gere!! barf!)

The Prestige by Christopher Priest, if you've seen the movie and think it's good....read the book. It'll make you wish they did alot of things very differently with the movie!!

it was SUCH an amazing book!! I can see what directions they were going in for the movie, and some of the stuff in the book wouldn't really work for the movie, but the book is FANTASTIC.

The Complete Fairytales- The Brothers Grimm (specifically!)

Lord of the flies- just finished it. Hated it all through when I was reading it. But now Im thinking about good and evil in a deeper way.

Anything gregory maguire- just read the source material first (ie, wicked- read the wizard of oz)

Try some agatha christie- I like Death on the Nile the most (they're all enjoyable books though- remember Poirot novels are in the 20's/30's and then miss marple is in the 40's etc.)

anything by Sarah dessen (Just Listen, Someone Like you, etc)
anything by Nicholas sparks (as PP mentioned, Bend in the Road and Nights in Rodanthe are both excellent, as well as The Guardian)

I also love Ellen Hopkins - Crank, burned, Impulse, and Glass. She also has another, I think it's called Identical but I haven't read it yet.

Also My Sister's keeper by Jodi Picoult. I've heard her other novels are just as great.

and I enjoy John Grisham (law/lawyer-based like The Firm, The Pelican Brief, etc.)

The Curious incident of the Dog in the Nightime by Mark Haddon is supposed to be very good, It's in my pile of books to read

I almost picked this up at the bookstore the other day. Let me know how it goes.

The Collector - John Fowles (It's really creepy)
Brave New World - Aldus Huxley
Cat's Cradle - Kurt Vonneguet
The Heart is Decietful Above All Thing - JT Leroy (There are a LOT of mature themes in this: sex, drugs, etc - be mindful of that)

I almost picked this up at the bookstore the other day. Let me know how it goes.

I Will!! Its in my pile, so probably 2 books after the one I'm readng now, so who knows how long, but I'll let you know! Or just keep bugging me about if I've read ityet.

the secret life of bees it is really good and i think they are about to make a movie out of it
