I am looking for an up to date book on WDW that basically just talks about everything there and is loaded with facts, almost like an encyclopedia?

I did read the 2011 version from front to back found it very interesting

Just bought the 2013 version on my kindle for $10!!! This book is like my bible!!!!

is probably the most comprehensive planning book out there. We used it early in our WDW adventures and I still reference my older copy today for some information.

There are some books that take a different direction and explain interesting, historical, funny, etc things about WDW. The Imagineering books for the park are interesting. I thought the MK one was best followed by the Animal Kingdom version. The Complete Guide throws in a lot of interesting things you may overlook and ride details. Hidden Magic, the book not the guide, has 600 interesting facts. Some are conjectures but I found it interesting. There is also a planning book from the same person but I have not read it yet.

Another great book is FUNatic's Guide to Walt Disney World. I found that it is packed with great information, Hidden Mickeys, fun facts, and PHOTOS (it is the only book I've found with photos of almost every single item...) I found my copy at Amazon.com. One of the things I love is that it is a 7-book set, but you can focus on just one topic if you want (like just a park, or Fun Facts...)

I used the UG religiously for several years, but found that as I learned more about WDW, the PassPorter then ended up being a better resource -- more compact, updates available online, easier to carry with me.

I like Passporter over UG. UG seems to put down WDW too much at times and promotes camando running around the parks

You can't beat the Unofficial Guide. I just bought the 2013 version and I learned quite a bit, even after all our trips, all my scouting on the Disboards, and my frequent reading of several Disney blogs.

Well, I think different guidebooks are for different people. UG seems ideal for the ultra-planner, while something like Birnbaum's is good for someone who is looking for a more summarized version of WDW. Passporter is nice with all its print-outs and maps, so it is definitely best for a "hands-on" kind of person.

To me, UG seems like a novel with not many visual resources, no color, and extremely detailed and "commando" (not that there's anything wrong with it) descriptions and such.

I prefer Birnbaum's, but you get different responses from different people. A nice idea is to go to your local bookstore and just glimpse through the Disney guidebooks they offer and see which appeals to you best. They all contain mostly the same information. Any add. info can be supplemented by the DIS!

So do you think it's a good idea to get this book for someone like me, who's been to Disney before but only a couple times, and not since 2008? Or will it feel redundant to me, I had a 2005 copy at one point.

Jenna319 (or anyone else with the ebook), can you bookmark and highlight the kindle version? Thanks!
