If you are willing to stay at the non-discounted rate, then by all means go ahead and book now. Then if discount rates come out for your dates, you can always call to try to get the lower rate.
If you don't plan on going to WDW unless you can get a discounted room, then you might as well wait until the codes or other discounts come out for your time period. There is no guarantee that you can "convert" a rack-rate room reservation to a discount rate. Also, the white-shirts at Disney likely take a look at how many rooms are booked at the full rate before determining how many rooms to allocate to the discount codes. This could make it self-defeating to book the room now.
For what its worth, I've never paid full price for a WDW stay and I've always waited for the codes or AP rates to come out before booking. This includes my reservation for the upcoming very busy "NJ week-SuperSoaps-Veteran Day" weekend!
Good luck getting the reservation that you want!
