Book now for August06 or wait for specials?

Hi,
We already purchased airline tickets for August 26-Sept. 4. Should we book our room now using AAA rate or wait until specials come out.

1. Do you know when the specials usually come out?

2. Are they likely to have free dining again?

I've booked now using the AAA rate for August at a resort that I am happy with and that I can afford. I will watch here for specials to be announced between now and then. If specials are announced, you can book a new reservation and cancel the old. I believe that there are a limited number of AAA rate rooms available, so I wanted to make sure that I at least got the AAA rate. With a room only reservation, you can cancel up to five days before the trip.

We've been holding off on the airfare, since we can't change that once it's been purchased.

Yes, I would definately book now with AAA and then you can make the change if a special rate comes out. I'm hoping that any special would come out in May or before, but no one really knows. And I seriously doubt there will be free dining again. I think that was to kick of the new dining plan and it has been a great success...so no need to give it away.

Sorry to butt in, and to sound stupid - but what exactly is the free dining? Is that when you add the dining plan to your ticket? Or somthing else offered by AAA? I am new to this whole vacation reservation thing!! and I'm also going in August '06.

I did just that..booked with the AAA rate for the beach club. Got the 15% discount off rack. Now I am hoping for a Disney discount to come out for August but at least I have a discounted room if nothing else comes out.

The free dining promo was effective late August thru early Oct of last year. You had to book the room at rack, buy ticket(s) & then you got the dining plan for free. We got this deal staying at the POR & it was great..alot of us wishful thinkers are hoping they offer it again but Disney probably won't.

Booking ASAP is always smart. They say if you call a week before your departure and ask about any available upgrade you may get it free if they have something available. If not at that time, ask at check in, and speak to management if you need to alot of the clearks just blow you off to get your check in over and done with. But if they have better rooms un booked their own policy states they will upgrade anyone specifically making a request.

I'm planning to book with AAA next week.

Our trip is August 24-September 3. If a good code comes out, then I'll switch to WDTC.

I have my fingers crossed for free dining.

I would go ahead and book what you are comfortable with paying for, without further discounts. I have waited before (last year), and did not get exactly what I wanted, so I was "stuck" with a Courtyard view at WL with the free dining. The plan included you paying rack for the room, and your meals were free. We've decided that we won't do the meal plan again, because you felt locked into certain parks certain days, but we ate great and at places we would not have normally gone to. The last day, we "gave" items to people behind us in line because we did not eat everything.
